Before the fanboy wars begin; this is iOS, so 2GB is enough for an iPad. I'm still shocked at the fact that the iPad Pro (12") has 4GB of RAM.

As a huge Apple fan and Android fan, it is safe to say Apple is bogus as hell for not giving this 4GB of RAM. Although yes, iOS doesn't need it, this is an iPad Pro, which means you may eventually need to the extra RAM in a demanding application. Extra RAM helps future proof your investment. My issue is that Apple has not sold me on what makes this pro. 1. Has same amount of RAM as iPad Air 2 2. Simply received a processor upgrade 3. Has an idiotic camera bulge 4. You can now use a stylus? (Should be standard for all iPads) Apple knew what they were doing. They wanted to charge more for the iPad Air 3, so they are making a killing selling the previous model while upping the price without truly making this a "pro" product. FU** Apple for this s**t. Seriously. This is coming from an IPad Air 2 owner.

...furthermore...... I said it before and I'll say it again. Tim Cook is doing a horrible job running Apple. Apple is a complete mess right now. As a tech enthusiast, it is hard to see an exiting a vibrant Company make awful decisions over and over. Steve is truly missed.

Agreed, Owner of iPad Air (1gen) and i didn't get true split window multitasking, which is only available for ipad air 2, if air (1 gen) was given 2 gb ram that would have allowed to get the true multitasking :(

I was a apple user until I switched to android. I'm surprised how many people can relate to me. I'm actually sad because i love apple products but apples policys are keeping me at bay.

For heavy professionel work? nope, no it is not? editing and whatnot is quite RAM intensive, so yeah.

Honestly, I didn't know that original Pro has 4gigs of RAM. I mean, WOW! What is it for? But on the other side, it's a Pro tablet and should be able to do something more than that air series tablets, at least on paper

Haha, typical apple doing what it does best; seamlessly separating fools from their money. Does the $100 pencil or $170 keyboard even come with this new toyPad? It's literally just an incremental update to the iPad Air 2; faster CPU/GPU, better camera, support digitizer (like true tablet), support keyboard. There's no rational reason for it to cost $100 more...besides to compensate for apple's continuous decline in iPad sales and thus profit.

The iPad was never made to appeal to the poorer markets. A man can wish all the specs they want and still won't get enough. Besides, iPads still run iOS, which isn't even that heavy at all to actually need 4GB of RAM.

"The iPad was never made to appeal to the poorer markets" Lol, yeah it's targeted at fools who have more cash than sense. Neither was the Surface Pro targeted at such market, heck, go look at Surface videos/ads on youtube and you'll see a whole bunch of ipad/apple users crying "it's too expensive for a tablet" or "the mac is cheaper" or "the iPad is much cheaper" in the comment sections. Yet it's nowhere near as inferior and overpriced as this toy. Money is no problem, at least for me, the price just better be justified. "A man can wish all the specs they want and still won't get enough...from apple." There, fixed it for you. The Surface Pro offers reasonable specs and functions for the price. Heck, you can get the more powerful i5 256GB SSD 8GB RAM Surface Pro 2 + Backlit and trackpad-equipped Type Cover 2 for similar price: "Besides, iPads still run iOS, which isn't even that heavy at all to actually need 4GB of RAM." Lol, you clearly haven't got a fukn clue what RAM is used for...hint, multitasking.

I'm not dumb to not know what multitasking is. And I dont give a damn about other tablets. I'm talking about the iPad and its position in the market exclusively.

the name Pro make it a device for Pro need so its need more Ram in case you edit BIG stuff. So go play your games on your ipad air ( i play game on mine too )

I I don't understand how a device with lower specs your saying is just as fast or faster vs other options is somehow a good thing. The fact that Apple develops hardware and software in-house has long since allowed the company to be less spec-heavy and yet still match or best its competitors for real-world performance So you're basically saying, because your 2 ton car is equally as good as a 14 ton semi-trailer simply because they both can both do 55mph. Lol. If the iPad present specs were shiver into a Galaxy Note Property with all the same abilities, the iPad would crawl to a half as it's hardware wouldn't even be able to handle what these highly specialized options are. Yet there are phones with Android with similar hardware as the iPhone and they aren't struglling, and they also like apple.devies not filled with festures. A phone with more features obviously needs.more power. Just like a 2 ton car would struggle to pull a full trailer of a semi. I rather have a Surface. For $599 I can get a Surface Pro 3 with a pen and 128GB of storage. I can go everything the iPad can and lots more things it cant. Including store all my personal files and documents I just don't see how something that does less is better than something that does more at the exact same price point. Lol

Typical dumb argument where you have no idea what you are talking about. Why don't you read Anandtech's analysis of the A9X so you'll learn something new.

Dude I don't give a crappie a out things like benchmarks, speedtests, or the stupid claims that a mobile process is equally as good as a desktop. It's not. It's processing a different set of instructions. My i7 can run Crysis at full mad and I can get 60FPS or more from my GPu. The iPad would not be bale to do that pushing rhetoric same code. The game would have to be changed with lesser graphics. If I took my Note 5 right now as is and could shove it onto the iPhone 6S Plus and it would stall or completely crash due to its low specs. I don't care about tech sites who try to compare 2 completely different platforms and how they handle take and try to claim one can be equally as good. IOS is not equally as good as android just because it's better at certain things. It's not better at everything. If the A9X was as powerful as a desktop class cpu, then the apps on iOS would be equally based good as they are on the desktop and cost as much too. The CPU inside the iPad cost less than $60. You can't even by an i7 for that even if you bought 1M of them. If the iPad could do what a Surface Pro does equally, the Surface Pro would die a horrible retail death.

TechieXP1969, give it a rest. PA are filled with fans. They want to buy iPad Pro over Surface Pro is because the are Apple fans not Microsoft fan. You are a surface owner of course you think very highly of Surface. My company is now evaluating Surface Pro 4 to give to employee and i hope it pull thru. Would love to get my hand on one. MS gadget is also not cheap comparable to Apple pricing. That why i prefer mainstream brands like DELL, HP, Asus and last but still last Acer the bargain brand which i happen to like. Just that they have awful designs, like those in 2006.

Disappointing, but it won't pull me away. If the air 2 can run 2gb and work fine I really don't see why everyone's going nuts over it. There aren't many apps in the AppStore that require more then 2gigs.

27. TechieXP1969

Posts: 14967; Member since: Sep 25, 2013

You mean their aren't any apps that require it. There aren't any Android apps that need to 2GB of ram. My device has 4GB. 1.5 is for the OS. I usually have 2GB for my apps. More ram means you can add more capability. Apple.dowsnt want the iPad to do more until they allow it. That is why Android and Windows took off. Apple.isn still like a parent trying to deprive it's kids of fun.

Well that's my point. iOS does not need so much room to run it, so what's the point? Still I wouldn't mind 3gb even if it is for only entertainment purposes...

the point is when Apple will come out with new feature on new iOS version you wont have them on your 2 gb device because the new model will have more ram.. Just like newer iphone with 2 gb have feature the old one with 1 gb dont. Its called futureproofing something apple dont do so they can sell you more device. Understand now?

Understood, but wouldn't that be good for the iPad?
