The futuristic iPhone X is actually thicker than the iPhone 5

0. phoneArena posted on 14 Sep 2017, 06:28

Back in the day, Apple was known for making each new iteration of their products thinner — the laptops, the iPods, iPhones, and iPads. However, there's only so far you can go with the currently available tech and, for the past few years, Apple's iDevices haven't been getting skinnier. In fact, the lowest the iPhones went was with the iPhone 6, which reached a profile of 0.27 in (6.9 mm). The next year, Apple introduced 3D Touch and the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus grew by 0.2 mm or roughly 0.01 inch.

Actually the sky technically isn't blue. Just throwing that out there (I get your point though).

iPhone 6 thin big battery
6S got 3D touch - a ton more weight, thicker and smaller battery
7 preserved the formfactor - added a bigger battery and lover weight and better internals
now iphone 8 got wireless charging - a ton more weight, thicker amd smaller battery.

It's kind of glaring how similar the addition of 3D touch is to the adition of wireles charge from enginering standpoint - just need to squeze another layer of tech in there.

Thankfully don't think there is something that will require such kind of formfactor change again, and things should settle down the iPhone 7 route - not so much thinner big battery and less weight.

Futuristic..... Really.... They finally caught up with Samsung /Android.. Now they are futuristic. The pull up notifications is Android in reverse by crackberry. Screen by Samsung so what's so futuristic. You guys kill me I finally can say iPhone arena.

By the way the review on the Note's screen Is way off based on another site's evaluation. When you go outside with auto brightness it gets extremely bright.

Adaptive display by Samsung now coined another new invention by Apple.

They haven't caught up they are still at least 4 years behind. No QHD, no IR blaster, no FM radio. Bezels meant to deceive the buyer into thinking Its edge to edge when it is not. I could go on. Does it even have video stereo audio recording and audio zoom? Its not flagship material

bigger battery doesn't mean its better. its also a sacrifice for wireless charging.

That's literally the only thing the iPhone X does that I'm jealous of. But you are right, also, the phone is supposed to last longer than previous models so they can get away with a smaller capacity battery if it means that they were able to make the device overall more efficient... unless their battery sucked on previous models, which I cannot account for.

Bigger battery does mean better. My V10 testifies to that. I put a bigger battery in it anytime I want and it lasts and last while other phones go dead. What good is a dead phone?

Hey! Apple must have finally received the memo, thinness isn't everything! Right on. Though the difference is hardly noticeable.

I am finally done with this website.
1. iPhone X futuristic - Note 8 & S8's are just good looking phones.
2. iPhone 8 & 8+ "Familiar beautiful design" even after 4 years - Note 8 is nothing special, just a rehashed S8+ with a SPen just in 6 months even though there are noticeable differences.
Hypocrisy at worst. when will you learn PA? really not acceptable.. :(

they call sony stale for using the same design language, but iphone is just perfect...

watch when all iphones go the way of the X, they will backtrack and say iphone 8 was the same boring safe design as the 6

Are those measurements considering the camera bump, or without. If without - I consider it moot!!! You're phone is as thick as the camera bump, period!

People still think the iPhoneX is bezel-less?
There's about 0.5cms between the edge of the screen and the phat side of the phone :/
Visual trickery (well done) is all it is.
The screen to body ratio tells you all.
