The Xperia gallery app receives KitKat support via an OTA update

It seems that select Xperia smartphones will receive an over-the-air update for their gallery app today. Although none of the Japanese company's smartphones runs the latest version of Android, version 5.4.A.0.12 of the Gallery app features "updates for Android 4.4.2". According to credible sources, who have tested the updated app on KitKat-powered devices, it now comes with the fullscreen immersive mode, which was introduced with the latest major iteration of El Goog's mobile platform.

Another improvement, brought with the OTA update, is the enhanced integration with Sony's cloud service for photos and videos, PlayMemories Online. The usual bug fixes and software performance improvements are on board, too.

In order to lay your hands on the renovated Xperia gallery app, you should head to the Sony Update Center on your beloved device and seize the over-the-air update, provided that your model is among the supported ones.
