The Moto G7 Plus could soon gain 'Night Vision' feature and portrait lighting effects
The Motorola Moto G7 Plus is already one of the best mid-range smartphones on the market, but soon the device’s dual-camera setup could gain support for two impressive new features.

Spotted by the folks over at XDA Developers, Motorola is currently testing a new version of its camera app which integrates a new mode called “Night Vision.” As its name suggests, it’ll improve the quality of low-light images and will hopefully be the company’s take on Google’s Night Sight or Huawei’s Night Mode – these use long exposure to capture extra light and, in turn, enhance images drastically.

In terms of what kind of results Night Vision will produce, your expectations probably shouldn’t be too high. After all, while it’ll probably represent a big improvement, the Moto G7 Plus still sports two very basic rear cameras that can’t be directly compared to those found on the Pixel or Huawei flagships.

On a related note, XDA also found evidence of a separate ‘portrait relighting’ feature. Just like Apple’s iPhones, this gives users the option of adding blue or special lighting effects to portrait mode photos. The details of each are yet to be revealed, but the current lineup of effects includes Studio, Color pop, Sunshine, Noir, Side, and Stage.

At the moment, it’s unclear when Motorola will release these new features. But they’re expected to debut pretty soon alongside the Motorola One Vision, which will also support them. Alternatively, Motorola could push out support at a later date through an update to its camera app that’ll be compatible with both the One Vision and the Moto G7 Plus.
