The Honor 20 Pro's release is on hold due to US ban
UPDATE: This article has been updated to include an official statement from Honor on the matter.

Huawei’s inability to work with American companies means that next-gen smartphones from the brand will no longer ship with Google’s range of apps, including the Play Store. Despite this, the company has reassured customers that existing devices, in addition to the newly-announced Honor 20 series, remain unaffected by the changes. However, this may not be entirely the case.

According to a report by French publication 01Net (viaWinFuture), the flagship Honor 20 Pro failed to complete Google’s certification process ahead of the Trump administration’s ban last week. Essentially, this means that if Huawei proceeds with the smartphone’s launch, it will ship without the Play Store or Google’s apps.

Huawei subsidiary Honor never announced the Honor 20 Pro’s release date but it’s reported that an early July launch was initially planned. Due to the smartphone’s lack of certification, though, the smartphone’s release has now been put on hold indefinitely. The Chinese brand has also pushed back its marketing campaigns by a couple of weeks to the end of June in order to buy itself some time.

Regarding the regular Honor 20, this smartphone was seemingly certified prior to the ban and, as a result, will avoid any potential delays. Missing the flagship Honor 20 Pro’s launch, though, could heavily impact the company’s stream of revenue. When asked for clarification on the matter, Honor said "we will update the availability of Honor 20 Pro once we have further information."
