The Apple iPhone was the top selling tech product of 2017

A research firm called GBH Insights said today that the Apple iPhone was the top selling tech product of 2017. In fact, with 233 million units expected to be rung up for the entire year, the device sold more than the numbers 2 through 5 products added together. In second place you'll find the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with 33 million phones sold...

Yeah, if Samsung was the only Android phone provider. Like comparing apples to oranges. Except the oranges always sell way more than the Apple's.

iPhone is a smartphone. Android phone is also a smartphone. where is this apples to oranges? they are different yes but it's not apples to oranges. we are comparing smartphone vs smartphone here.

That is because they can sell s**t to the isheep, they just need to put an Apple on it and call it innovation.

Really? Last I check Samsung is the industry leader in selling phones, displays, RAM, batteries, and more. Where do you get your hateful info from? If Samsung is my 2nd beat, then why does Apple keep running to them?! Samsung makes their own sh*t. Apple makes nothing. But you say Samsung is 2nd best? What happens when iPhone sales die? What does Apple have to call back on? Macs?! Phones are 70% of Apple business. Phones are less than 40% of Samsung a business. Yet they sell more of them with A0ple. At least they have better stuff where it counts.

He's not wrong though. The iPhone SE, 6, 6S, 7, 8 and X are all counted as one iPhone, yet for Samsung they only count the S8 and Note 8 series. If you count all of the Galaxy range like they do with the iPhones, the Galaxy range would top iPhone sales by 40 million or so. It's very purposefully misleading, to make it seem as if Apple absolutely dominates the consumer market, when the fact is they really don't.

Yeah you can't help but laugh at Apple the IPhone X sales are a sad joke.

And we will only hear Apple say "and in 2017 the iPhone was our best selling product ever". Insinuating the iPhone X sold amazingly. Apple and marketing. Gosh to be able to sell water to a drowning man is truly magical and an art.

That sounds about right. Apple should have sold more, being the only provider of iOS phones. I mean you have maybe hundreds of types of Android OS phone manufacturers to choose from that's almost pathetic of the monopoly Apple has to only have sold that many. But take all the Android OS numbers to iOS, no comparison at all.

Agree They are putting all iPhone lumped together, so put all Samsungs lumped together. Oh wait, iPA won't do that because then iPhone wouldn't win.

I was just about to say the same thing as all apple phones are iPhones and all Samsung phones are galaxies. If they are going to state all iPhones they should show all galaxies. Which Samsung sold well over 300 million

Why, because then it would show Samsung selling 250M and Apple would be 2nd. IPhones include 6 selling modwla. How many Galaxy models are there?

Those Samsung, Amazon, and Nintendo numbers are really great in their own right people. No need for the flame wars to start when each company had a super successful 2017 campaign!

+1 I agree kiko. And if somebody had asked me last year I never would've guessed Nintendo to make the list.

Sure, but if we are lumping together all iPhones one should do the same for other brands. Which would make the title be: "Samsung smartphones were the top selling tech product of 2017." That would reflect reality more, the selective choice of dividing other brands per smartphone model is just misleading and only seems to have one purpose. That being trying to force a positive title that regards Apple.

Seriously. Many rich people tend to buy iphone coz its luxury product. Why would they chose android when they sucks at protecting security and privacy. Are there news that NBI, NSA or other hackers find difficulty in breaking android devices? It sucks.
