Testing reveals that iPhone 6 doesn't support high-res audio, and it might be by choice

Despite the rumors that Apple is building a high-res audio tracks catalog for iTunes, working it out with the music labels (which apparently hasn't come to fruition yet), the new iPhones don't include high-res audio support in their list of features. This has been empirically proven by an audio testing expert by playing purposefully generated sampling quality tones in .wav format through the iPhone 6's headphone jack, and then detecting them with a high-res audio recorder, running at the required 96kHz sampling rate, 24 bits per sample...

"You Stupid", "I have enough of these ignorant comments", "You still need to be convinced", Despite all these". Do you see where I am going here? You commenting on someone's intelligence is like the pot calling the kettle black. Or as they say people in glass houses........

If you want value for money you should also demand better from Apple, not side with it.Remember its us customers that looses. Apple is the only company that's cheating on customers.

This is a website about Smart Phones. No matter how you feel about your I phone it is still a website about smart phones. So, in the big picture, big deal what you think and what I think. I happen to think Apple makes a great product but it is inferior to my LG G3. But I am not going to call you stupid nor am I going to call anyone else stupid. At the end of the day we are debating about a phone. Relax my friend, it is really not that big of a deal. Life is too short to get so upset about a phone.

Users don't realize that apple is making fools of them. Giving mediocre specs and charging a premium price.

64bit is a "marketing bit" too!!! Tomlinson Holman....its funny how apple wants their consumers to believe what apple wants.

64bit as a marketing bit? Lol. If you actually bothered to read any in-depth technical analysis you'd not be saying this at all. Even Qualcomm was immediately proven wrong for calling it gimmick, and had its exe who said it fired, then it went straight to annouce it'd be producing the exact thing too. Oh wait, you still would say the same thing even if you had read anything, because to you, and many haters, whatever apple does is 100% wrong and not any less, no matter the reason or fact

I am talking about the PRESENT(right now). i know that 64bit operates faster and more amount of bits but with what RAM does does the iphone 5S-6whatever currently have is what i call a GIMMICK and marketing. Apple has gotten you all wound up in their tree eggimage. of course other chip manufactures are going to make the 64bit versions, but not right now. and how can you bring me up as a hater. i just hate how apples got their idiot believers not knowing that they have better choices than to buy their crap that they mark up 10xPLUS.

aha, so then buying 300$+ headphones are useless on an iPhone? LOL

not yet. until they start having that format in their' itunes and calling it hdclear sound, then you can use your 300+ head set.

Lol, no phone supports anything close to 'cd quality' or hi-res. Just because it plays the lossless format you aren't going to hear the benefits due to a lack of hardware. Stick to your MP3, because that's all a phone is capable of playing albeit even mediocre.

I agree with you, but since I don't know if you're pro/con iPhone, I would love to see what your reaction is when Apple does tout it as a "innovation", in it's upcoming iPhones.

I have to agree with this guy on the "marketing bits"., Hi res audio or not, iPhones sound better than >95% of Android devices out there.

The only marketing is the guy saying they're "marketing bits." Listen to a good recording on LP, played through a proper turntable/cartridge/pre-amp and amp. Then listen to the CD version of the same. Irrespective of ticks and pops which may be evident on the LP, the sound is far more pleasing, less grating and overall, smoother. It's simple analog vs. digital. That smoothness is the content missing on digital, the "marketing bits."
