T-Mobile takes to the sky to troll Verizon about overages

T-Mobile CEO John Legere is not one to do things quietly. So when he wanted to get the message out that Verizon still charges overages for those exceeding their monthly data caps, he sent out a message by having a plane fly above Verizon headquarters in Basking Ridge, N.J. skywriting "#AbolishOverages" where it could be read by Verizon officials...

For all the smack talking T-Mo does, I still haven't converted because their rural coverage sucks on my commute route. Less talk, more action T-Mo.

They're not going to invest in rural markets were costs of setting up and running towers will be more than they make from such a small market.

and yet both ATT and Verizon have done just that...which has earned my business accordingly

ATT and Verizon are both larger and have more capital in the US. They're both also historically the consumer unfriendliest carriers. Some people are stuck with them though.

also why they charge significantly more... tmobile has a great business model. its not for everyone but they are after the 90% that live in highly populated areas. I loved vzw but hated the price. live in jax, fl and have never looked back after switching to tmobile... its lte is even faster than vzw and i get service everywhere i go (basically just here to tampa and everything in between).

And if T-Mobile moves in that's three carriers in a very small market. It's not worth it for the few customers they'll pick up.

They have done so because they were there first...pretty simple really. However even out here, Verizon's amazing 4g LTE speeds of 2Mbps is blazing fast....oh wait. Which rural market are you in?

If I were a T-Mobile customer I would wonder why they were doing high school bulls**t.

I just cancelled my Verizon service after being with them since 2007. It was time to move on.

I don't care how reliable Verizon's service is. Wifi (mostly) gets the job done when I'm in an area with bad coverage. Having a phone bill less than $100 with truly unlimited data is enough to make me stay with T-Mobile.

Instead of spending all that time and effort on putting down other carriers, how bout they work on their piss poor coverage?

Exactly.. I wouldn't go to tmobile if it were close to free.. I travel for work and their coverage is s**t.. Its the single most important thing of a cell company.. Tmobile either put up or shut up.

Not the most important thing for all the people in urban areas it works fine for. Similarly I wouldn't go with verizon even if I lived in the sticks and it was my only option. Too awful a company to support. Difference is I know that's not the single most important thing to people, because people care about different things. Such a tough guy for a phone site

Since whenwwould coverage not be the single most important thing on a cell package? You sir make no sense.. And yes if you must know I'm a tough guy :)

He answered your question in the very first line. In many urban areas, the major carriers all have adequate coverage, so coverage is not the single most important thing to those people when picking a cell provider. That being said, I agree with you that I would like to see T-Mobile investing more in boosting their network vs silly publicity stunts. Maybe it actually gets a few converts from Verizon, but it doesn't come off as very professional either way.

Im saying coverage, around the country including the sticks you travel for work, is in fact not the single most important thing to every cell user in the states. For developed urban areas that people don't need to leave often, it's not a problem. Are you really so shocked not everyone is on the exact same page as you?

Instead of spending all your time and effort on putting down T-Mobile, how bout you tell them to work on their "piss poor coverage" by talking to them directly?

I have. Nothing happened because coverage still sucks where I live and I don't even live in a rural area. It's either Sprint or Verizon and Sprint is way cheaper

I find it funny when companies make fun of each other.

Right, all of these butthurt customers are putting down T-Mobile in the comments but I also find it very funny how carriers go at it. *grabs popcorn*

You're f;'u;'c;'k;'i;'n;'g druuuuunk lol T-crapo's service SUUUCKS. No comparison to VZW's service. I get TRUE unlimited data with VZW and their 4G reaches way farther then t-crapo where I frequent. There is no comparison!!!!! T-crapo barely has 2G where I go, let alone 4G and I get speeds of upwards of 40 mbps down with VZW in even small towns in the area!! T-crapo is lucky to have 2g in that area which is worthless!!!

And yet in the Bronx, Queens and New Jersey Verizon service is practically nonexistent.

Every time I go back to jersey Sprint's LTE gives me 40 Mbps down and that's why I stuck with them

Number 3rd lol they just barely passed sprint in 4th lol
