Surprise! BlackBerry reports a profit for the fourth quarter although revenue comes in below expectations

BlackBerry surprised Wall Street and Main Street by reporting that it earned a profit of $28 million, or 5 cents a share, for the fourth quarter ended February 28th. A year earlier, the company reported a loss of $148 million, or 28 cents a share. Removing one-time items from the bottom line, BlackBerry turned a profit of $20 million, or 4 cents a share. Wall Street expected the company to report a loss of 4 cents a share for the period...

Oh come on Kanye, don't get your panties in a bunch. I didn't even speak poorly of the iPhone, I was simply making a statement that people only view a company a success if they can beat Apple. I made no disrespectful reference to the phone's hardware, software, or user base. You're just so defensive it's hysterical.

I'm not defensive and stop calling me Kanye. I don't care what you say about the iPhone. I'm not even using the iphone right now.

Believe me when I say this, I do not want to keep calling you Kanye, but as I've stated MANY times before, stop trolling or I will continue to call you that because you're behaving just like the man. That's all you have to do. Is it asking too much? I don't think anyone around here would think so. ... but then again, I've tried to reason with you before over various subjects and you remain disrespectful time and time again and never accept anyone's logic but your own so I don't think I'll be calling you anything else for a long long time.

You're behaving just like a salty person. You're always making snide comments about Apple and its users. Don't stir the pot if. You don't know reason yourself lol.

There you go Kanye, proof you're incapable of behaving like a respectable human being.

If you don't care about what he said about the iPhone, then why did you respond to his comment in the first place? The lies you tell...

Why do you respond? The bs you spew...

The revenue is still in free fall.. Only $660 M Hardware is depleteting and reaching to the bottom. BB is counting on software and this division outcome is almost nothing... Common, only $67 M John Chen keeps cutting the costs till the naked bone. In this way, bb is becoming a very small company because the revenue is falling and becoming desastorous compared to 3 years ago.

Typical PA yellow journalism. A one sentence mention of the 1.6 million units sold and nothing on the $211 ASP. Both figures clobbered YoY estimates. Troll alert in 3-2-1....

Indeed. They will never paint BlackBerry in a good light, even when they do well. They didn't even mention that over 90% of devices sold in the quarter were Passports and Classics, or that Chen said early reports show that the Passport and Classic are indeed selling well at AT&T and Verizon. So much for those ANAL-lyst that said the Passport isn't selling.

Where are you getting that 90% figure from as I'm not finding that on any of the reports or even the release from BlackBerry? We also have no sales breakdown of how well the phone is selling on AT&T and Verizon and only anecdotal "evidence" of a claims that they are selling wel, by someone whose job it is to embody and sell the phone. And sorry, but 1.6 million over 4 months isn't that impressive. Yes, it is an improvement but when your down in the dumps to begin with, it's not the most amazing hing ever.

Ugh, so many typos from my mobile device.

You must be typing on an iPhone.

or a Z3 Compact. So about that 90% number, where did it come from again?

It was an iPhone. Don't lie. And see comment #14. After that, insert foot in mouth.

Look for it. I got the same figures, but I have a more vested interest to dig around as opposed to a troll who wants things handed to them.

I searched for it and didn't find anything hence why I asked for the source of that information. If one makes an affirmative claim, they have to be able verify it and prove it, not the other way around.

I verified it and proved it. And yeah, next time, do your own research.

26. Rydsmith unregistered

Except you didn't verify it. You took one source and claimed it as fact without analyzing it and seeing that something is strangely amiss about the information. I did research and I can't find that bit of "clarification" from any major news source or from their own release.

Yes I did verify it. I also have you another form of verification when I told you that John Chen himself said it on the earnings call, which is also where n4bb got it from. Simply because you're too lazy to research it for yourself doesn't mean it's not true.
