Apple has made a pretty big deal about the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus' water resistance, but is this feature big enough to turn the tide? There are few men better equipped to answer this question than professional surfer Kai Lenny, who strapped the new iPhones and the older 6s models on his surfboard, hit the Pacific Ocean's waters, then emerged on shore to share the outcome of this peculiar test – filmed with a GoPro camera.

The previous-generation iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus lack water resistance, thus they lasted only around five minutes in the salty waters each before shutting down completely. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, though, pulled through for as many as thirty minutes of action, with only muffled audio output to account for the watery trouble they went through.

Since surfing with your iPhone has officially become an option, we are wishing you a safe ride and happy selfie taking!
