Steve Wozniak says Apple should do Android, is not impressed by Samsung

0. phoneArena posted on 06 Feb 2014, 09:53

Apple's co-founder, Steve Wozniak, is known for speaking out his mind in a frank and direct manner. But nothing really corroborates that notion as completely as does a just-outed interview the man gave for Wired. According to Woz, Apple should do Android, and there'd by nothing to really stop it, as people go bananas for Apple products...

Yet none of my close friends (at least 15 friends contacted within the past month) use Hangouts, not to mention the rest of my friends / contacts. Hangouts was a flop.

You probably haven't because it isn't an app. Humor aside, you probably have no friends. I can't stand when I'm using my Note 2 and I text friends with iMessage. Even though our texts go through as text messages and not iMessages, I get envious of iMessage. I admit it.

hangouts? cross platform? Hmm my WP says otherwise in the app department.

I know a messaging app that is truely cross platform and doesnt even need an app for things like flipphones, and runs on the pc as well....

Yes my WP can use hangouts i think from the browser but for what? Like sauce stated, i only have hangouts because google made it so and linked it to my youtube account that was never a gmail account to begin with.

The Woz has spoken! A lot of people on this site would praise Steve over anything he said before and I too gave lots of props to the guy, I still do. Everything the Woz said is SPOT ON though it's unlikely that it's going to happen. It's like Steve just rehashed everything that's happening right now

hes egomaniac. look at him wearing a t shirt with his own picture on it.
hes drunk because of ever thinking about an actual apple android phone.
hes crazy because he thinks samsuc in not innovative. half of iphone components are made by samsuc. how can he say that?!
and finally hes overrated. people love him because hes friendly. i would love to see him sporting bill gates' wealth and see how he'd change.

His comments don't make sense. iOS has more premium apps collection than Android in the present state.

Still I choose Android to avoid being locked down into a single manufacturer ecosystem. I also disagree with his sweeping statement that all Samsung offered features are useless. I do use multi windows and S note a lot. Features not in use are switched off.

*Gasp* An Apple phone rubbing ANDROID!?! Aren't there laws against that? Kidding.

Now that would get me into an iPhone, especially if the 5.5 inch screen became a reality. But still, We know that won't happen soooo...

As for the Samsung part, I can somewhat agree with HS whatWoz is saying, but com'on. Apple hadn't been innovating anything since the first iPad came out. Samsung has done just as much if not more for this industry as Apple. Not hating on Apple, it just is what it is.

I'd have nothing against to Android with iPhone hardware, but for reasons that I can't explain, I wouldn't want Apple to do Android.

The Galaxy S4 is full of gimmicks hopefully the S5 will get back to its core, faster better camera, better material. iphone is slowly turning into Android anyway, with all its pull down menus, & it will have to implement Widgets/live tiles? soon otherwise the home screen will look even more outdated in a years time.

The iPhone still have its rectangular shape and suing everyone from left to right. And gain only a 2" screen size

If you think Multi Window is a gimmick then you need to go see a doctor right away.

I've only used it once on my S4 just to see how it works. It's a nice concept but the screen is just too small. It's better suited for tablets.

Multi Window was introduced on the Note 2, not the GS4. I find it hard to find practical and useful features out of the giant pile of gimmicks that was introduced with the GS4.

To each their own. All I know is Group Play is amazing, especially if you don't have portable speakers with you.

I also use Group Play and S Beam (or Android Beam) for those that don't have Samsung to share photos among friends and relative.

I also like the smart stay, that keep the screen on when I am looking at it otherwise the screen will shut down in 30 seconds.

Agreed, I don't use any motion features so I switch them all off. Part of the joy of using Samsung Phone is to test out the feature one by one and see what suit you and to keep those 'On" while turning the rest off to avoid dampening the user experience.

I also support Samsung default setting is to keep ALL Features switch off with alert to tell User about a certain feature and the user could either try out the feature or disable that alert. This systematic approach tell me that Samsung has determine to refine their Software feature, the result is getting better on each generation.

However, I am also aware that putting so much features on the phone would increase the size of the system storage requirement. I just hope one day they will tell us the true storage capacity including those that is used by system ROM.

e.g S4 16G model is effectively a 8G storage phone. People respect you more for being honest.

The iPhone is nothing like Android and no where closer to it, even when compared to what Android was in 2010. They added a notification center that isn't even as good and added shortcuts that were there in SBsettings since the inception of jailbreaking. There still is 0 multitasking and 0 customizability. To say they changed anything because they changed up the skin on the phone is ridiculous.
