How about they just make a global GSM iPhone and sell it unlocked so that people can use it on both AT&T and T-Mobile with support for their 3G speeds. :-)

problem is Tmobile uses a goofy frequency for 3g they use 1700mhz and the Iphone doesn't support that

2 carriers better than one? Well DUH Steve, how long did it take you to figure this out? Doesn't matter if AT&T has slightly faster 3G, it's the amount of 3G that matters. Does Verizon ring a bell? (pun intended, because their network is more reliable) By the time Apple releases the iPhone to other carriers everybody will have an Android in their hand. Android has covered the industry but the iPhone is still sitting on the same blue egg.

Ok...so ya'll say that ATT have a slightly faster 3g speed than Verizon, but Verizon have more 3g coverage...have we forgotten that Sprint super fast 3g, and now have 4g! Who cares about Apple's iPhone anymore anyway, when Android has taken over by storm? HTC is where its at!!! HTC EVO 4g Flucking ROCKS!!!

ah yet another sprint fan running his mouth when no one cares. Sprint sucks stop trying to justify your tiny footprint with your wimax and realize that the network you are on will never be in the same gym as the big boys. they cant afford the i phone and never will have it. Consider yourself lucky to have such a good phone as the evo, especially on such a garbage network run by a guy who is in commercials that are a notch above palms creepy ass adds. Dont hate the game hate the playa... and right now sprint isnt even second string! SPRINT SUCKS VZW IS THE BEST JOBS IS A TOOL AND WOULD MAKE BILLIONS MORE IF HE PUT THE I PHONE ON VZW ATT IS FAST BUT NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE GET TO EXPERIENCE IT JOBS IS A TOOL

I would have to say AT&T is no better then Sprint. At least Sprint has 4G but I am a Verizon Motorola Droid fan anyway. Can't wait for Droid Xtreme!

I don't hear this same reasoning for exclusives like the Storm, EnV, Chocolate, and DROID on VZW; or for the exclusives on the other carriers. It must be something special or unique about the iPhone that people are so interested in making Apple determine the direction of how they want to do business. If a vendor wants an exclusive, shouldn't that be their choice? Apple has changed the industry in what customers want in a device. Carriers now offer a far more vast and diverse selection which lean towards more feature packed devices versus the plain phones of the past. Almost every vendor now offers some type of "touch" device. The exclusive deal with AT&T will probably end at some point ( me speculating ), but every analyst and opinion writer has been completely WRONG so far about what Apple is going to do. Why not enjoy what your carrier offers or change if you want a device that other carrier's have as an exclusive. Better yet, you can have multiple devices on different carriers and then you can experience each one's strengths and weaknesses by your own eyes and not just by what "THEY" say.

Apple could make SO much more money if the iPhone was on Verizon, I don't understand why he's stuck with stupid AT&T for SO LONG.

Jobs is right to some extent. AT&T does have the fastest 3G network based on the technology used HSDPA>EV-DO etc, but that is only in optimized conditions. In real world scenarios, the infrastructure of their network does not come close to that of Verizon. The billions of dollars that Verizon invests into their network ensures that in a completely saturated market such as metro detroit area where I live, I can still get over 2Mbps on an aircard and over 1.5Mbps on an android smartphone, whereas iPhone users in the same area have to fight to even get their 3G signal and when it does work the speeds are not very consistant. Don't get me wrong I am not saying it's FAR SUPERIOR because every network has it's share of problems. As for the iPhone, it would be a great addition to ANY network. Because of the amount of market share that Apple users represents, it would surely lead to new activations for any carrier and port outs for others. The same goes for a device like the Droid Incredible being available on AT&T, i promise you people would love that too. In the end, the cell phone industry is very unique in the way it operates. Communication between various carriers, phone manufacturers, the FCC and so forth will always leave the consumer to be uncertain of what will come. The rumors of this and that can spread like a california brush fire, but until any carrier publically announces a phone launch, keep on dreamin' . . . .

Notice now how all this talk is coming that he thinks its a good idea to have it on multiple carriers after Android is kicking the shit out of his phone!!!!! I work for Verizon and as far as I am concerned, he can keep his crappy as product and his business on AT&T!!!! We don't need the IPhone anymore.... All we need is Android and its coming in waves right now. Just wait, you all will see, for LTE launch this year, Google Tablets are coming and that will be the finishing blow to all this talk about Apple coming to Verizon!!!! You can qoute me on that. :-)
