I know so many people who have died from pancreatic cancer it is a horrible disease almost incurable. I would love to see apple donate money for this cause. Great post ian.

Jobs wasn't generally known for his charitable activities that I ever read, but maybe once he realized what he was going through, he might have changed his mind and ordered a buildup of funds.

Of course, this is all speculation on my part. Despite my general dislike of him, I never wish ill upon anyone's health or their character. Now that there's no more health to wish for, I hope that he leaves behind an even more positive legacy than he already has.

God damn.

I didn't like the man, but he did have a great mind, and his death is no laughing matter.

Therefore, as I review the comments tonight, if I find anyone making a snarky or mean spirited comment, whether you're my friend here or not, I will thumb you down.

He will be missed. He was missed already at the iphone event. Apple just got bumped down a notch..or 20 in my book. I am not an apple fan, but he has done so much for the computer and tech worlds. I am sorry for your loss Job family.

I was sleepless last night, not because i heralded Steve's demise but so excited about the new cam gears iam getting this weekend. I have not shed a tear for perhaps ten years for the death of anybody including my grandma (well, considering aged at 90+ and tortured by prolonged sickeness, its a good riddance for her), My eyes reddened at the news, umm, perhaps i deep inside do admire and respect this guy even though i want to see the fall of the arrogant Apple, but man, not Steve at the age of 56, he deserves everything good things in life just like any of us still alive.

I think Phonearena should make a tribute page filled with user submissions, like pictures, artwork, Photoshop projects, etc. If you do, I know I plan to pay my respects in whatever way I can.

I too will admit I've always had a bias against Apple, but there is no denying the contributions Steve Jobs made to the tech world. Rest in peace Mr. Jobs.

A lot of people give steve jobs credit for being innovative and a visionary, which in all respect he was, but he was also the best at marketing and advertising his products, no one was better, I am sad that he is gone, steve jobs was someone I looked up to when it came to the businees world, that's why I am majoring in marketing and advertisement. Thank you steve jobs especially for the wealth of knowledge : )

I'll still make fun of Apple and criticize them in the future. And I'll still honestly say that Jobs had issues and I didn't like him. But I know when to pay my respects for what he did do.

Steve you were a brilliant man who will be missed by all. You have impacted our lives in such a fashion one could hardly imagine living in a world before you touched it. May your legacy live on and be honored by those who were left in your shadow. RIP my good man no more worries.

This goes to show that even people as tech-savy, powerful, and rich as Steve Jobs are not immune to the demolition ball known as cancer. If anyone could've had the resources to beat it, it would've been him. RIP Mr Jobs. I did not prefer you products but respect you as a true visionary and leader in the tech industry. You will live on through your company.

wow, i see a lot of douche's on this board. Guys, give steve 24 hours of respect before you start cracking jokes about him. Is that so hard? Life will return to normal shortly and we will all go back to our pointless banter... but for now, can you refrain and just show a little respect? Good frikkin lord.
