Sprint wants to lease you a smartphone

If you have shaky credit, or just can't afford to spend the amount of money needed to buy a high-end phone, Sprint would like to lease subscribers a handset instead. The wireless operator has a new program called Sprint Flex that allows customers to lease a phone and upgrade to a new model after 18 months. For $5 a month extra, subscribers can upgrade after just 12 months...

Why the Sprint hate? The price and service has been good for me in Philly. Customer Service has bent over backward for me.
