Sprint PCS outlines EV-DO high-speed intenet plans

Sprint PCS posted an overview of their plans for the EV-DO high speed rollout. The new technology will allow users to experience always-on high-speed internet, allowing theoretical speeds of up to 2.4 mbps with real-life speed of about 300-600 kbps. According to Sprint's plans, the rollout will begin in mid-2005 and by the year end the technology will be available to more than 130 million people. The high-speed data will be enabled in a “rolling coverage launch”, meaning that some areas like business districts in a particular town will get it first, before other, less populated suburban areas of the same town.
The national built-out should be competed by early 2006 and will encompass more then 200 strategic urban and suburban markets.
