Sony Xperia Z2 won't let you record more than ~5 minutes of 4K video (and neither will Note 3 and S5)

4K video recording is slowly but surely clawing its way into the mobile scene, and although its adoption is quite limited thus far, some manufacturers who are feeling more adventurous than others are starting to build the feature into some of their premium smartphones...

Maybe, but you would want to do multiple takes, and waiting in between cool-downs would make for a very poor workflow.

i dont think so guys that recording in a AIR CONDITIONED room will work out. GLASS IS BAD CONDUCTOR OF HEAT and it will hardly make a difference. Z2 GETS HEAT UP V V FAST bcz of this only ( even while playing heavy games). u should try it with htc m8... METAL IS A GOOD CONDUCTOR SO IT WONT HEAT UP VERY FAST. EVEN IF ROOM TEMP IS 40C, IT WILL BE ABLE TO DISSIPATE HEAT IN SURROUNDING (APROX 60-80%) UNTILL AND UNLESS ROOM TEMP ~ MOBILE TEMP!!!

hmm it is odd that they limit the time, maybe it is to limit the processor heat indirectly? that said, I'm sure if it becomes an actual problem to their customers then they will remove the limit, since it is a software limit it can be removed, so no real biggy. That said, I don't really know anyone that records 5+ minutes on a cell phone, unless they have a tripod for it to stand on, for 'normal' use 5 minute limit isn't something you will run into, i'd think.

If I wanna record something meaningful, I DO NOT use my damn smartphone, I use a real camera.

well 4k on my note3 isnt that good ..., its shaky and stutters with low freme rate .. or thats maybe i got used to the 60fps. 1080p/60fps is amazingly smooth and crisp

Exactly, When heat problem for Z2 was reported these brainwashed Samsung fanboys celebrated like X'mas party, they were very happy to bash Sony at that time. N they fail to understand (purposefully did) that Note 3 and S5 has advantage over being plastic only because glass in Z2 heats up quicky. Now they are mum, thank you Phonearena for bringing S5 and Note 3 into this article. N im not supporting Sony here for bringing this half baked feature. Its better if Sony will concentrate on other problems. For time being its not much of use. No one going to miss it, if this feature is not present.
