Sony Xperia XZ1 design allegedly revealed: No surprises

Sony is readying the release of a new high-en Android smartphone allegedly called Xperia XZ1. The handset should succeed the Xperia XZ and Xperia XZs, and it seems that, as of today, we can take a good look at its design, thanks to some renders revealed by CompareRaja and @OnLeaks.

Apparently, the Xperia XZ1 largely resembles the Xperia XZs, being a metal-made device with a minimalistic, elegant design (albeit some people may not be crazy about the large top and bottom bezels). The Flash and sensors next to the phone's rear camera now stand horizontally - as seen on the Xperia XZ Premium, but more centered. The new smartphone has a headset jack at the top, and a USB Type-C port at the bottom. On the right side, we can see a power button (likely hiding a fingerprint scanner), a volume rocker, and a dedicated camera button, while the left side includes what seems to be a hybrid microSD / SIM card slot.

It's said that the Xperia XZ1 sports a 5.2-inch display (unknown resolution), and measures 146.8 x 73.4 x 7.6 mm. This means it's just a tad taller and wider than the Xperia XZs (146 x 72 x 8.1 mm), but also a bit thinner.

Other rumored specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a 3000 mAh battery. The new handset should come with a 19 MP rear camera, plus a 12 MP front-facing camera, and might run Android O out of the box.

As previously reported, Sony will probably announce the Xperia XZ1 at IFA 2017, on August 31, at the same time with an Xperia XZ1 Compact, and a mid-range Xperia X1. We're certainly looking forward to discovering these new Xperias. Are you?

P.S.: @OnLeaks is well known for accurately revealing the designs of many unannounced smartphones. Thus, we're certainly inclined to believe that the device seen in these renders resembles the real Xperia XZ1.
