Agreed. the Sony NXT line is probably one of the best looking droid out there. I'm kinda glad the T, V and J adopted different design. It makes the NXT phones (S, P, U) somewhat special :)

my brother got this phone the week it came out...this was suppose to be there 2012 flagship device and it wont even get jb in 2012 which is shocking...the gs2 which came out last year is getting jb this year which just shows how messed up this is as samsung are apparently the worst when it comes to updates.

I bet this won't go beyond JB. I doubt 4.2 is comming either.

It will. Don't be one of those angry 2011 Xperia holders ranting nonsense.

Just curious, what nonsense are you referring to?

Incredible, STILL no JB for any of the 2012 Xperia phones, really pathetic going by Sony, this is EXACTLY why people were against the Xperia S being launched with GB, because just like the X10 the XS and the rest will always be an update or two behind. I remember when i had the X10, we were stuck on 1.6 Donut til November 2010 and then got 2.1 Eclaire while Galaxy S and Desire users were getting 2.2. Its like im watching history repeating itself, atleast im with the correct OEM now.

My S3 running its leaked 4.1.2 update and my S2 running its leaked 4.1.2 update as well which it will get later this month despite being a whole year older than the Xperia S.

Must say, i expected more from Sony, seems the only thing they can do is make pretty yet dated bricks.

Why not you comment that on LG, Motorola?

TLDNR - Cool, stay with your GSIII.

You do realize X10 got updated to 2.3.3, do you know any other device that got updated from 1.6 -> 2.3.3? And seriously, most of the time it's more about the UI rather than getting the latest version of software out there. And I rather get a "pretty brick" that I know it will work all right, rather than just jump onto the newest phone with untested software (look at G-Note with 2.3). By the way, save for the Xperia Play, all 2011 devices got ICS, did Samsung updated all their devices to 4.0? I'm curious for Galaxy Ace, since it's the one that can be compared the most with 2011 Sony devices.

Yes, X10 went to 2.3 eventually after many of us complained and did a petition, we got a buggy 2.3.3 update that they never fixed, thanks for reminding me of why i left Sony/SE.
Yes, the 2011 range got ICS, an ICS update that Sony themselves had to issue a warning about as their phones had little RAM, the update then came and it was buggy, again, never fixed, thanks again for reminding me.
Samsung updated GS2, GNote, Galaxy R, S Advanced, some others and their tablets, the difference here is that Samsung were smart enough to update phones they KNEW would still deliver a great UX after the update, and they did it will, as we talk the GS2 and Note are being prepared for 4.1 now, any 2011 Xperias getting JB? ;)

"any 2011 Xperias getting JB? ;)"

Any Galaxy's built using decent materials? ;)

Didn't think so. I'd rather have better build hardware and wait a bit longer for software, which, still uses that awful UI they call 'Touchwiz' eurgh.

Yes, all use great materials. :)

Samsungs TouchWiz UI is not only the fastest and most fluid UI outside Nexus but also the most innovative bringing great features such as Multiview multitasking.

So far Sony has proven to be terrible at updates, when they do bring a new OS update its buggy, long as you're happy with waiting a little longer for updates that will be buggy and unstable then yes, Sony is most definetly for you. :)

Though I hate to admit it as a SONY fan, but you did hit bulls eye with those comments man. Though I'm pleased when they updated their 2011 phones to ICS. I have 1 nagging issue with ICS upto right now that SONY seems to have forgoten (switching homescreens is a pain in the ass) that's why as of this writting I use Apex as a replacement. Come 2013 I'm jumping ship.

It is getting JB theyve already said. the latest phones (xperia T etc) have been rumoured for q1 2013.

I have to say that after owning a frustrating x10 I am much happier with the update speed of my xperia S

No phone other than the nexus will get immediate updates unless its vanilla

It's confirmed that all 2012 devices will get updated (except for U and Sola), they are most likely talking about the features that will come with Jelly Bean, and which phones will get certain features. I exptect them to announce if Xperia U and Sola will get updated, but from the rest of the phones, they'll do get updated.

I was pretty sure the Xperia S is gonna get Jelly bean, it's already been confirmed as one of the 2012 Xperia's that will get it (PA even did an article covering this) So this is obviously over-exagerated by the source..

This is therefore more likely to be information about WHEN the jellybean 4.1 update will be available (originally quoted just after mid Q1 2013) or the 4.2 JELLYBEAN update

I think it will get it with the SL. its more than fit to run it. and even in the worst case scenario, you can always resort to custom roms, the xperia s was supposed to recieve a lot of support AOSP
