Some Samsung Galaxy Note 9 displays are exhibiting signs of light leakage

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has just been in some buyers' hands for no more than a few days, and already several owners have spotted an annoying problem. Along the left side of the screen, there is a light leak that once spotted, becomes a major distraction to Galaxy Note 9 users. The problem is occurring right where the edge of the display hits the metal frame...

Wouldnt this be better illustrated by taking a photo from the left side of the phone rather than the front because that just looks like a reflection to me. I swear Erica Griffin made a video about this a while ago...

Same thing happened since the S7 Edge. How you guys are just now seeing this is stupid.

What's stupid is how a supposed tech site can be so tech illiterate. You can't have light bleed without a backlight, and oled doesn't have one. Also, this was explained years ago the first time someone reported it. It's edge reflection/distortion.

It's only bleeding because it is reflecting though the glass because it is curved. So what you see is a reflection, rather than light "bleeding"

Waiting for Forbes and BGR to be like "The new Galaxy Note 9 has a TREMENDOUS engineering flaw"

Nothing new same issue as Note 8 used to had this issue on my pervious note 8. But I don’t know if it’s light leakage or light reflect?. https://youtu.be/0a3izp45O1g

It's not light leakage because it can't be, there's no light to leak. It's reflection/distortion from the curve in the glass. It was explained years ago, and it's just sad that a site that's supposed to be tech savvy could report light bleed where it's not possible, and doesn't remember the exact same story from last year.

@tedkord It is a light leakage located behind the black bezzels.

I have a note 8. But instead of the light leakage. I get a screen flickering.

Wow, even "the greatest mobile display" shows problem. I guess POS displaymate will never report something like this.

Keep trying. It's still the best display on any phone.

The curved display is a gimmick, and a ridiculous gimmick on an alleged workhorse device like the Note.

Even after being gimmick you still bought the Note 9.

Not as ridiculous a gimmick as a notch, though.

My self don’t like curved aka edge screen I would still prefer S7 flat screen. But I think Samsung make the Galaxy’s and note line curved and increase resolution and brightness due to the nature of OLED that shows colors shifting especially with flat screen OLED.

By the way iPhone X, S9/S9 plus and note 9 using flexible OLED just check the left and right side including bottom of iPhone X you will notice the screen folded kinda curved!.

S9 plus doesn’t has this issue I’m using S9 plus the only issue S9 plus has is temporary image retention in notification par, but not as bad as my pervious lgg6 it shows only for a second.

It's only the paint job on the body at the place who linked with the curved screen. There is nothing more. But I am waiting my Note 9 and I hope, not to have this paint anomaly!
