Small stores luring new customers with maps

0. phoneArena posted on 01 Dec 2013, 21:02

According to a story in the Wall Street Journal, smaller retail stores are trying to lure customers to their location by sending out maps of the store's floor plans. Customers can access these maps on their smartphone or tablet and can figure out where a certain product is located inside a store. Or, if a certain retailer is found inside a mall, the map can show you where the store is in the mall...

It's amazing how far maps have come on these smartphones.. The Here Maps, and Here Drive, on Lumia devices are absolutely amazing, and feature rich.. Indoor maps work great with these apps, and we constantly get updates with new data.. But the coolest feature Lumia devices have, as far as mapping, is the ability to download the world map into you device, and use navigation without data,, offline maps.. This is just one of many things that has made my WP experience great.. Nevertheless, I can't wait to see what technology Apple, Google, Samsung, Microsoft, Nokia, and others bring us in the future.

The maps have been available in Nokia devices since 2009/2010. It was much simpler with all the features in one apps rather than scattered in different apps and the "resuming" thing really annoying when you switch between the apps.

That I can agree with.. They should merge Here Drive, and Maps into one.. But, the reason Microkia did this is so that you can choose which navigation app you want to use.. In WP8 you can choose Waze, or Garmin, it any navigation app in the store right from Here maps.. That's pretty cool, and it shows how WP is progressing with more options, and freedom than ever before.. This isn't iOS by far.

For offline maps , we have sygic in google play .
The map which uses in luxury cars and navigation systems!
The map is absolutely amazing!
When I live in india , even smallest store near my home and all roads in my state (kerala) clearely mentioned !
So maps is not a reason to switch to WP!

as someone mentioned the resuming thing is irritating!!

He never said it was a reason to switch to WP. He just said it was a nice feature to have. Sometimes people need to calm down and use less exclamation marks + not make this whole thing a WP vs IOS vs Android vs other os thing

Whose comparing WP to Android❔ Who cares if you don't want to switch❔.. Some of you Android fans always have to turn everything into some kind of competition, almost like you're insecure about your platform.. The minute you here somebody mention something good about their platform you have to go on the defensive, and start making up excuses.. Unless someone ignorantly attacks what you like you should prepare to be defensive.. Until then learn how to choose your battles because I'm not going to play that stupid nerdy my phone is better than yours game with you.. Get a life.
