Siemens AL21 low-end slider gets FCC OK

Siemens AL21 low-end slider gets FCC OK
The FCC just approved (Benq-)Siemens AL21 GSM phone. It is strange that FCC approves the 900/1800/1900 version and not the one, operating in 850MHz GSM band, which should be for the Americas, but even if they did, we don't expect the AL21 to be released by any major US carrier.

The AL21 is a slider with entry-level features and has 130x130 65k color display, no camera or any other advanced functionality. Its main specifications are:

  • Tri-band 850/1800/1900 or 900/1800/1900 GSM phone
  • 130x130, 65k color STN display
  • 32-chord polyphonic ringtones
  • SMS, EMS, MMS
  • WAP, GPRS
  • Java
  • 1.5MB of memory
