Sharp's new Corner R concept phone sports a bezel-less curved edge display
Sharp, the electronics company that was purchased by contract manufacturer Foxconn for $6.2 billion last February, has unveiled a new concept handset. Dubbed the Sharp Corner R, the phone features a bezel-less and curved-edge display. Using the IGZO technology that carries up to 1000ppi, the Corner R features a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920. That works out to a 425ppi. The display makes up 90% of the front panel with virtual buttons underneath.

The phone was introduced during the CEATECH 2016 technology expo in Japan on Thursday. There is no word on when the device will be offered to the public. A full list of specs was not revealed.

What was can show you are some photos of the rounded bezel-less curved-edge screen that gives the Sharp Corner R a unique look. Feel free to peruse these photos by clicking on the slideshow below.

This better be on the next iPhone - or I'll be disapointed for the second year in a row.

So everyone here that like borderless is stupid!? If you dislike borderless just add a case to your 100% screen to body ratio phone. However, if you dislike thick bezels there nothing you could do to remove them.

yeah right, just use battery pack for more bezels... btw, google, moto, sony, and iPhone also like big bezels nowadays... MOAR BEZELS....

i do agree though, slim bezels phones aren't that comfortable to use, and not to mention it breaks more easily even with a case on. but it does look great.

Depends on how they implement it. I wouldn't mind a bezel-less phone like this, but there would have to be some significant part of the edges that don't respond to touches. Or some really good algorithm that knows when touches are accidental or not. Also the software needs to be clever enough not show everything from left to right completely filled. This is one thing that annoys me a little on the Samsung S7 Edge; the keyboard is screen wide and some keys on the left and right are in the curved part of the screen. But also text on websites for example can be right under that curved part. If the OS would get things like this right, I would love a screen like the one on the Sharp

As pretty as this looks, it would be a total pain in the a$$ to actually use.

I thought of that, but I also thought of dead zones (either permenantly or software controlled). Im just tieed of bezels, he-he.

Exactly. I'm facing pain in a$$ when I use my S7 edge to type an SMS. I think note 7 remain the best when it comes to edge screen.

You can do selfies with rear cameras if you own z5 premium or s7 titanium. Sharp aquos have their speakers placed behind the display, search mkbhd's review on that for demos.

Doesn't look like curved edges but rather 2.5D glass on a screen without bezels...

This phone should be 2016 standard. Or at least 90% screen to body ratio. Not 71% like pixel
