Sony has released a beta version of its PlayJ app, which can be found in the Google Play Store. With the app, you can share your mobile gaming experience with a friend by allowing him to watch on his mobile device, the game you are playing on your own phone or tablet. You can also allow a friend or loved one to share the experience of viewing a streamed movie, a You Tube video or a television show that you are enjoying on your handset or slate. In fact, with PlayJ you can share any app that you have in mind.

The app can be installed on any phone running Android 5.0 Lollipop or higher; installation is not limited to Sony Xperia branded smartphones. Once you've downloaded the app on your phone and have signed in using Google or Facebook, you can choose a game and invite a friend to share your screen with you. If your friend accepts the invite, you will see his video feed in a small window on your display and be able to chat with him, as though you guys were on a call together.

The app is strictly an Android affair at this point. You can check out Sony's official video teaser for the PlayJ app by clicking on the clip found at the top of this article. We should add that PlayJ offers an App of the day with a new selection every 24 hours. You can check out some screenshots we've taken from the app by clicking on the slideshow below.

Before you run off to view the slideshow and install the Sony PlayJ app, we should remind you once again that the app is in "beta" status. That means it is not stable, and there still could be some bugs that Sony will have to exterminate before it launches the final version of the app.
