Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is set to debut in movie theaters on July 21. The film inspired by the French comics is directed by Luc Besson, known for another sci-fi masterpiece, The Fifth Element.

If you're not necessarily a fan of sci-fi movies, but own an Android or iOS smartphone, you might want to try out the Valerian official mobile game, which has just been released in the App Store and Google Play.

Although the game is available for free, you'll notice it features in-app purchases. Since this is a single player title, you'll pay for faster progression with real money, if that's what you want. However, Valerian: City of Alpha doesn't require you to pay anything to play.

But what is Valerian: City of Alpha? According to developers, this is a “strategic builder simulation game.” So, you will build, manage and develop the city of Alpha, a place where humans and aliens peacefully coexist.

Your primary objective is to turn Alpha from a mere space station into the ultimate space metropolis, featuring sectors and habitats where everyone can add its contribution to the progression of the city.

Aside from being able to build your own city, you can also recruit and train agents, which can be used to form up elite teams that can explore the unknown by launching missions into the universe.

During these missions, your elite teams might stumble upon new lifeforms that you can bring home or even new technologies that will help build your city faster. Are you ready to become the architect of The City of a Thousand Planets?
