Google's apps is a total mess. They are killing projects more than continuing them. What's going on in their heads?

Google needs to develop one messaging app and have it preloaded on all Android devices. Just like Apple messages. No Allo, hangouts, sms, etc.

I feel like Google needs a little firing and hiring new people. The chioces they make with phones is horrible also.

well...apple simply made an OTT (over the top) messaging app (like whatsapp, or facebook messenger) and made it be able to use text as well due to the fact that cell companies will not upgrade to a more secure and better messaging platform... blame the cell companies for relying on SMS and MMS for so long to milk their customers

Why the hell they not just make improve on Hangouts and stuck with it? Hangouts is great beside the flaws is crappy mms. Just fix that and Add Google pay to it and wowlaaa you are competing with iMessages.

Or how about combine all thr apps (Duo, Allo) into a single apps (Hangouts) instead of two different apps do its own things.

Until they add proper encryption to "messages" app, I won't ever install it. Kudos to Apple for getting iMessage almost right a long time ago. They just need to add ability to send any type of file and make an Android and windows version.

Google seems to be closing apps faster than it releases them...they will soon run out of apps.

Problem wasnt as much as it was a bad app, it was the exposure of the app - nearly zero - which made it useless to have. with iMessage at least if the other user doesnt have it, it's still the app to go for text messaging.. but, oh man, if the user on the other end has it - it's a multiplayer-gaming, pdf sharing, checklist collaborating, thumbs-up, send-money, draw-a-picture, extravaganza...
