Samsung's next rugged smartphone leaks in full ahead of its June launch
Once every two years, Samsung launches a mid-range Galaxy rugged smartphone, as part of the Xcover series, and 2019 is the year that the South Korean company is expected to released a new device.

However, the new phone is unlikely to be a major upgrade over the Galaxy Xcover 4 predecessor, especially considering the name that Samsung may use to differentiate it from the other models: Galaxy Xcover 4S.

If you've been following our news feed, you probably remember that we previously reported about the Galaxy Xcover 4S last month, but not much information aside from name, a couple of specs and price were available at that time.

Luckily, Winfuture.de has the scoop on Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4S, as the German website has just published several press images showing the upcoming phone. More importantly, the images come alongside a list of specs that seem clearly a match for a mid-range smartphone.

For starters, the Galaxy Xcover 4S sports a 5-inch LCD display with 720p resolution. It's got a 16-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper in the front. There's no fingerprint sensor, but the phone packs a 2,800 mAh battery.

Hardware-wise, Samsung's mid-ranger is as average as it gets with 3GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage and an Exynos 7885 processor under the hood. Of course, the phone's main selling point is the IP68 and MIL-STD 810G certification, which means it's sturdy enough to withstand harsh environments.

Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4S is expected to go on sale in Germany for €250 from June 12. It's likely to hit shelves in other European countries around the same time.
