Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 is a lot cheaper than the iPhone X everywhere except in the US
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is a beastly phone with a beastly price: $1,000 for the base model, on par with the base price for Apple's iPhone X in the United States.

But did you know that everywhere else in the world, the Galaxy Note 9 is actually much cheaper than the iPhone X?

While we have a parity in pricing in the United States (the beefier Note model is actually slightly more expensive), just take a look at a comparison of the Note 9 vs iPhone X prices in Europe:

As you can see, the base iPhone X model is 15% more expensive than the Note 9 in Europe, while in the United States, the two phones are sold at the same price! The beefed-up models pricing is also different, again the iPhone X is, strangely, more expensive in Europe, while it is in fact cheaper than the Note 9 in the US.

This is an interesting little detail that we should keep in mind when we think about global sales of these two phones. We might be tempted to put them in the same price category, but if you look at their pricing on a global scale, the iPhone X still remains the most expensive mainstream phone, while the Note 9 is actually more affordable.
