Samsung to start mass production of 300ppi+ Super AMOLED displays in Q2 2012, right for the Galaxy S III

Phase 3 of Samsung's A2 5.5-Gen AMOLED line is listed as beginning mass production with the LITI method in Q2 of next year, and this conveniently falls into the same timeframe when the rumored Samsung Galaxy S III with even crazier alleged screen resolution of 1024x1280 pixels is about to enter production...

well.. blah! lol part of me wants to wait for it.. and part of me knows the SGS3 wont be seen in the US till the end of 2012 at the earliest unless sammy can wrangle some control from the US carriers

If I didn't still have the Droid (classic), I would consider waiting, but this thing needs a replacement desperately.

Sammy will keep it all to themselves and say no Apple.

Already did... this is the display that started all the hoopla with the patent wars, Apple wanted this one for the iPhone 5 and Unca Sammy said no. It wasn't the Super Amoled Plus that made the big ruckus, it was this display.

I'm pretty sure the patent wars started well before Samsung said no to Apple supplying screens..

Samsung just keeps on innovating while Apple just keeps on suing. In 2012 phones will have 720p HD screens & quad-cores running between 2.0 to 2.5 GHz. By the looks of it Samsung will have the best processors & displays available. Again it looks like Samsung will make the world’s best phone, in the name of the Samsung Galaxy S III. Stat wise the phone looks incredible, now I am so excited to see the design approach. Edge to edge display will be so sexy & with an all metal casing would put it over the top. I just can’t wait to see this phone!

with samsung you wont see metal casing..it'll be plastic unless they took a casing design like they did for the Captivate sold by AT&T. it'd still be lightweight but have a durable feel about it..

Magnesium casing would be a good option as well

How come the wave s8500 with superamoled isn't mentioned ?

The comparison is made between Samsung's high caliber Galaxy lineup and Apple's army of balanced iOS products. As of now, Samsung's flagship devices all came from the Galaxy lineup so it is just appropriate to use two flagship devices for comparison. Even though the S8500 packed high-spec'd components during the time of its release, it was not Samsung's flagship device. It was the Galaxy S.

because its the exact same screen used in the galaxyS 1 peter... the wave 3 is just a bada filled Captivate/SGS1 with a slight overclock on the processor. that.. and noone cares about bada. ;)

This is what i hate to see... I've been trying to talk myself into getting the t mobile SGSII and now i wanna wait to see if we end up getting the note....i know the screen isn't everything but things like this show me that Samsung is holding out and me buying anything from them right now is a lost clause when im gonna be out dated before a phone is even released

I feel your pain, I'm the same way but seeing the awesome deal that Costco put on for the Bionic it made me jump. BTW I got 30 days to return or play the phone is overheating and force closing I need to exchange for the Prime if need be.

with Costco you have a 90 days to exchange 30 days to return (used to work there)

Hey everybody just joined today. In no sence will I try to sound smart, Im not a phone super nerd but enjoy new technology. I jumped all over the bionic and I will be returning it. My sister's thunderbolt the other day was eating my phone alive. But my question is will the NOTE even come to the U.S that is still in the air? Do you think the prime will acually be on time for release and worth getting with the new phones coming?

Don't get the Note, it may not come to US for awhile, and when it does, there should be the Droid Prime/Nexus Prime whatever and the HTC Vigor. These phones will be incredible. And as the article says about the note, it's display is effectively nerfed to get the attempted resolution.

Good advice thanks. I just hope we dont run into another bionic disapointment and have to wait 6 months after they are supose to launch. I love my OG droid X but its time to upgrade and the bionic is out!

Just got the GS2 and is running great, although I can't seems to get 100% battery only at 99% IDKY... but anyway hopefully by the time my contract ends the GS4 will not only come with some crazy screen but a set of super fast Arm Cortex a15s and hopefully much better battery life. My GS2 phone battery is better than my OG Droid but still not great.

For as fast as the tech has really come to these devices as of late, it really makes you wonder what a phone is going to be like 5-6 years from now...
