This is by far the dumbest thing I have read on phonearena to date. Period.

Retain the S pen. Just increase the size. Just look at the Mate 20 X.

I registered an account just so I could post and disagree with this article (like many others have already) and reiterate that the Galaxy S+ series basically is the Note without an S pen. The slight difference in hardware is because the note is designed for more multi-tasking in mind with the inclusion of the S pen functionality. Other than that and a higher price tag there isn't much difference. If anyone wants to save money and doesn't want the S pen then they should simply buy the Galaxy S+ series device. Leave the note series alone for what it is. My fiance loves using her S pen, and is always using it.

S pen is a life saver for me as a site engineer I can fill sign documents on fly without needing to goto office and take a print out and then fill it. I can't even imagine of owning a phone without s pen

Wow, April 1 was more than 3 months ago. A stylus is the raison d'etre for the Note. Get rid of it and you've basically got a slightly different S# Plus, so just wish Samsung granted that your imaginary specs. And no, your fat fingertip can't do everything a stylus can, so there's apparently still a sufficient market of people who wish their smartphone had some capabilities they miss from their naughties PDAs.

Out of curiosity, why is it that when a PA author writes a "controversial" opinion piece, they never stick around in the comments and offer counterpoints to what is brought up? People are passionately disagreeing, but there's radio silence when it comes to their points.

I think they are paid by Apple to hate on Samsung products. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong of course.

The Note sans S-pen already exists. It is the S line. And the Note line hasn't been the flagship model since Note 5. That was the last time Samsung shipped with better SoC than the 6 month older S line.

If u dont want an Spen get yourself S10+. The Note series is not a Note without its Spen. Moving right along. Note 10+ will have Spen your column does change that.

They already did it with S Plus. Well, at least in our universe. Millions of consumers still waits for the Note despite S Plus. This fact alone tells a story. BTW I am not a Note user let alone being a Samsung user. Unlike some other "unique" features like physical keyboard for example, S pen is a selling point actually working in real world. Why they should kill cash cow? It's mind blowing being so blind yet calling it is a vision.

Nonsense! OEM's have been removing parts with the pretense that they need the space for a bigger battery. What bigger battery? IR blaster was removed for a bigger battery. Some don't include the SD card slot due to a need for space for a bigger battery. Phone chassis got bigger to fit in bigger batteries. The headphone jack is gone because of a bigger battery. Do these phones that removed the headphone jack or all these other parts now have a 6000mAh battery? Nope! Now this author is wanting the S-Pen removed for a bigger battery. Have several seats, please! It's a freaking NOTE not an S-series device. A note without the S-Pen isn't a Note.

I have a Note8 since its release and I use the S pen for some quick notes and some image editing. I am not telling that I use it all the time, but I need it when I want to use it. The battery lasts the whole day for me too. I am quite sure that if Samsung removes the S pen in the note line, the same PA who put out this article will bash them in the review.

It is called Samsung Galaxy "NOTE"! And from what I know people use a pen (or pencil) to take notes, not their fingers. Without S-pen there won't be a Samsung Galaxy Note anymore. All that Samsung needs to improve the already great Samsung Galaxy Note series is more ingenuity to get a bigger or more performant battery in there and better battery optimization. The cameras will keep on getting better. How come this author has never hated on an Apple product but always on Samsung products?

I haven't posted here in a long time. Like at least a year. This is the most outrageous, ridiculous opinion I've heard on here in a long time. In a market where differentiation is vital to success, what reason would they have to cripple one of the best devices they've ever made. It's versatility and convenience is unparalleled. This phonearena, I would've thought you'd know a thing or two about s pen value. You get a unique writing utensil at the expense of these "reasons". I couldn't imagine having a Galaxy Note without a s pen. It's been around almost a decade and there's a reason for that. Angry this article makes me.
