Samsung sees increased tablet market share, but Apple is still the king in the castle

0. phoneArena posted on 10 Apr 2014, 09:02

Although the sales of Android tablets have already surpassed the iOS ones, Apple is still the dominant player on the market for slates. In 2013 alone, Apple sold a tad over 70 million iPads, while Samsung lagged behind with roughly 37 million tablets retailed. With close to 30% of the market, Apple is still the leader during the first trimester of 2014...

Apple will sue Samsung for increased sales of tablets.

There is nothing on the other Android tablets like Nexus, lg, lenovo, Toshiba, Sony, nvidia, and so many more. Considering 120 million Android tablets sold last year in 2013.

Uh, they already did on the first lawsuit.

Anyone who becomes successful in apple's domain makes them the next target of lawsuits. Except MS, since they are blessed with a patent deal from the 90s when they didn't know this would happen.

Er where are the other 50% of the sales going to? Why does PA only reports on Apple and Samsung?

It'll be hard for anyone to dethrone Apple from the tablet market, but not impossible that a company like Samsung wont do it anytime soon though

agree i'm experienced with Android tablet, it's not as optimized as Android phone. I hope Apple come up with new idea or add some useful features like S-Pen integration for example...

Is the galaxy note a tablet or phone? I feel like Sammy is adding these sales to both sides.

Note 3, 2 and 1 are not included in tablets.. I am 100% sure on that. The latest pro series of tablets are the one which may dethrone iPad. Well we need to see for at least a year for it

Thats a good question. Im not sure anymore. "Phablets" would continue to be a good name, but the Note would be the only phone labeled as a phablet so far

Unless you can move ALL download apps to SD card then every tablet with a SD card option should NOT release a tablet under 32gb, my Galaxy note 10.1 has only 2gb free after 2 months & there is no option to move any app to sd card unless I root it (which we should not have to), if I knew i could not move apps to sd card (like my phone lets me) I would have tried to find a 32gb version.

16gb is just too small especially as RAM is so cheap.

Hmmm.... One would hope that you'd understand that all those apps that you can't move to SD are NOT stored in the device's RAM.

Anyway... It's way overdue for major manufacturers to make 32gb the baseline capacity for their premium/flagship devices as STORAGE Really Is Too Inexpensive These Days.

Put all your music, pictures and videos on SD then. That will free up a lot of space.

Samsung tablets are better though...I'm surprised people haven't given up on the boring iPads.

Between both, even though I'm a Samsung fan, if I was to buy a new tablet, I'd get an iPad, both are as fast, the Samsung has a better screen and amazing multitasking, and way better options, but hey it costs 300$ more than an iPad and this is not convincing.
