Still can't beat Apple profit-wise.

Because apple is the only company in the world who can set an exorbitant price tag for every product it manufacture and still people will line up for weeks to buy them. It is still a mystery.

reply to #4 LG dropped 1.2% compared to last quarter and PA write it in title... Apple dropped 3.4%, they didn't even said it.. or about how samsung market share increased by 7.6% they avoid mentioning percentage in above article.. and they didn't include marketshare table on source linkhttp://press.trendforce.com/data/attachment/2017/04/11/418855001491891008.png reason? It is still a mystery.

@ibend I am not an apple fanboy. But market share in Android means s**t. There are companies like xiaomi selling millions of smartphone every quarter , but generate nil profit. This is the main reason why apple still makes more money than other Android OEM. They have defied the logic that if you sell more , you make more. Apple sell less and make more.

What does profit have to do with it? They still make enough money to be in business. Profits help Apple. What has it brought to your product though? Does Apple products contain industry leading tech? NOPE WHat is industry leading tech? Bluetooth 5.0...what Apple product has it? NONE Fast charging and fast wireless charging...what Apple product has that? NONE Apple's iPhone with a 27xxMAH battery takes 3 hours to charge. Galaxy S7 edge with 3600MAH batter takes 88 mins. Still has a headphone jack and is rated IP68 while the iPhone is rated IP67 with no headphone jack. Apple makes one phone per year. It highest failed phone had a 29% failure rate. Samsung makes 50+ models, highest phone with a failure rate was 7%. It took Samsung a whole year of phones to get a 43% failure rate. Apple had a 58% failure rate in 6 months. Apple makes more money, yet their devices have 2~3 year old tech so they can make lots of money selling you a 3 year old product as new at 4 times the price. Example..latest iPad using hardware from 2 years ago per confirm by iFIXIT. So the iPad now costs them $100 or less to make and they sellit for $330. That;s a 200% profit margin to use old tech. What are you bragging about? I dont care what a company makes if their products dont reflect it. Apple's products overall are good garbage The fact is bruh, using money or profit as an argument makes you look stupid. Because you can't SEE Apple money, you only HEAR about it. What you see is what they sell. What I see is exactly what you get. What I see is Apple is a company who spends one of the least money on R&D. Their products show this buy using th same designs over and over, no advanced features and capabilities. A phone that bends on your pocket. A phone that has to be updated 3 times a month to fix simple stupid issues. Apple makes ONE phone. Yet they have more problems that OEMs who make multiple issues. Teh Note 7 issue was link to ONE SINGLE ISSUE. The last 3 iPhones have failed because of MULTIPLE ISSUES. Samsung sells 300M phones and has less issues with all of them combined vs Apple with just one new model per year and 5 selling models per year. Samsung has at leats 10 new models per year and 50+ selling models per year. Those are the things that matter bruh. The final products. Not invisible cashflow. I'm glad APple makes monmey. So what. The question is simpe, show me what they are doign with it. Samsung is goign to spend more money on growingg its beusiness than Apple will on R&D this year. Apple paid Samsung $9B to catchup to OLED tech because they are to tech incompetent to make their own. Its simple math. Samsung in the past 5 years, has spent over $50B+ perfecting OLED technology to now be the industry leader at 90% marketshare. They beat LG who actually had phones with OLED years before Samsung. Now Samsung has perfected the tech, Apple comes and spends $9B to catch up. See that's how APple saves money.

APpel spends $9B to ctahcup, Samsung spends 5 times+ to actualluy bring it to the masses. Apple outsources everything. We all know this is cheaper than doing it yourself. The fact Samsung does it all. They design, engineer, fabricate and create is more costly which results in less profits..>SO WHAT! It benefits lame duck OEM's like Apple who cant make their own crap! Yet Appel bleeds you fools year after year, adding maybe 1 new features to get yoru panties all wet with sweat. After OEM's like Samsung spends far more money to actually make it possible. I dont give a fork how much money Apple, Samsung or anyone else makes. What I do care about is what ends up on the shelf. And Samsung products show their actual hard work, and Apple products show just how lazy Apple is. Money is never a bragging argument. I just don't understand that logic. What is worth bragging about is how my phone still has a working button, headphone jack and yet has a high IP rating. How it has a 60% larger battery yet only takes 88mins to fully charge. What is greta is I can plug in my phien for 30min and have 60% of it be charge and it will be enough power to get me through a full day, while my iPhone from 100% in the morning dies before UI get home. I know because I have an iPhone 7 Plus and its at 20% or less at 5PM after taking it off the charger at 730A. Yet when I had my Note 7 and I take it off at 730A it last me 2.5 days with the exact same usage I am giving my iPhone with exception of powering a pen. For a phoen with more capabilities. But you talking about profit. SHOW ME APPLE'S PROFIT IN YOUR HAND! Hold the iPhone 7 Plus next to a Galaxy S7 Edge and tell me which one looks like a phone from 2017. Explain why with Apple's $200B, Apple can;t get a 5.5" display into a smaller phone, and yet the S7 edge has a 5.7" display and is smaller than the iPhone 7+. All that money and the iPhone PLus take 3:30 to charge from ZERO%. The S7 edge takes 88 mins and has 60% larger cells. Why do you need a frikkin adapter to use headphones? I can use both wired and wireless and still have better IP rating and. Why does the iPad Pro 12.2 at $799 do less than an Surface Pro 4 for the exact same cost? Why does the iPhone 7+ not have the capability of a new phone, take better photos than the Galaxy S6 which is now 3 models old? The iPhone 7 just came out 6 months ago and it can't even beat a 3 year old phone at talking videos or photos Please explain how Apple profits manage this? Why does the iPhone 6 bend? What doesn't Samsung device shave touch disease? Dont come back with no BS talkign about how long my post is. Either debate and justify Apple's money with a tangle thing...OR STFU!

We're not talking about Xiaomi, we're talking about Samsung and they do make a healthy double digit profit. Which is quite a feat, considering all that competition within the Android ecosystem, that IS selling at cost price (no profit or loss).

I agree Apple devices cost less to make than Samsungs for years now and they sell at sky high prices. Samsung has UFS and 1440p amoled screens for the least 2 and a half years now and their flagships left 1080p since the S5. Now apple finally hit 1080p displays with the Iphone 6 series. Hardware wise they are waaay behind. Their OS is alot more smoother than samsungs but has way less features, then theres OEMS like Huawei, LG and Sony who have very quick OS with no lag at all.

They can't eat Apple in high end sales either. From a price standpoint, Apple only sells on the high end. It amazes me that the were ahead of Samsung even though the sell phones in an array of price points.

The SE, 6 and 6s high end? Even the ancient 5s is sold in some areas in the world is that high-end too? Let's be generous and say the latest iPhones are high-end, the rest low to mid-range.

Thats because Iphones have IOS they not competing with other OEMs and their version of IOS. Android has alot of players such as LG, Samsung, Huawei, Sony so you cant really expect them to beat sales of IOS devices when only ipads and iphones have it. There is no competition in the IOS market whereas there is alot in the Android market.

Samsung money is based on any oen segment. Its based on whatever and all products they sell. Stop tryign to isolate a segment as an argument because it isnt. Samsung sells multiple smartphone models, not one. The fact is, most phones Samsung sales are one model...they are all Galaxy branded.. The Galaxy brand sells 250M+ phones per year, which is more than all combine sales of the iPhone for the same sales period. Shut-up dude. Go take your ass back to Apple articles. I can comment on both because I own both. YOU DONT! You and Kiko are the biggest no argument having losers of all time. Last time I check, Apple has ZERO lead in any segment except one...tablets. But that too is dying. The iPad sales have fell double figures year over year. The Surface and other Windows tablets have caught up and are about to pass in marketshare. Apple doesnt lead in sales of phones, or laptops, or desktops. Once the iPad is killed off the top of the list, Apple will never be at the top of anything anymore.

noone can beat apple bcuz apple is the only one selling ios LOL...iphone already had its loyal apple fans when the first iphjone came out...on the other hand, samsung is competing against dozens and dozens of android oems that equates to over 100's of android devices every year...how can u not understand that this? do u really believe apple will be as much profitable if there where dozens and dozens of ios oems? LOL and if apple came out with 10 iphones a year, its more than likely that instead of one of two iphone selling atleast 50 million...you will see that number go down if there where 10 iphones annually...most likely the highest single iphone sale of out 10 would be 10 million...maybe not accurate numbers wise, but u get the point right? LOL yes, profit is the goal...but samsung is still king when it comes to the most bought brand in the world.

Don't know how you're even amazed by it. Samsung isn't the only one selling android device, many competitors, but Apple is the only one that sells well Apple/ios. If samsung was the sole seller of android imagine the numbers. Alas the duopoly continues anyways.

I do not think it is possible for any single Android OEM to meet the demand of Android mobiles in all price segments, single handedly. If Samsung were the only Android OEM, most of us would not be using any mobile phone. Apple sells far fewer iPhone than Android and still appropriate 90% profit. It is nothing sort of magic.

Nope if it was just samsung and apple then apple would get some of the sales and so would samsung. It be down to which OS you prefer. Its just marketing like retina display which made everyone crazy even tho samsung and others have higher resolution displays and more efficient ones. Iphones are for simple people. Androids are for people who like customising the looks of the UI and everything.

Androids are for people who actually have sense and purpose for a device. And iPhone's are for the tech clueless. Apple says, we dont put advanced tech in phones because many dont need it. Well its true many dont. Not needing isnt the same as not wanting. Youi cant claim yoru producyts is premium, when there are "better" options. When I say better, I am not talkign about things that are left up to preception. I means things that are better period. Charging a phone 3600MAH battery in 88min from 0% is better than waiting 3 hours for a 27xx battery to charge from 0%. Not needing an adapter to use standard headphones is better than needing one to use the exact same headphones. Having a 1440p display and stil having better battery life is better than 1080p display and still having dismal battery-life. Being able to but a phone with a 5.7" display in a device that is smaller than your device with a 5.5" display and yet its larger is better. Paying less money for the same kind of accessories to me is better than paying more and not getting additional benefit.

You're dumb. Learn how to properly read other's comments and actually using thought process before replying.

54. willard12 unregistered

That would depend on your definition of "high end" since Apple's latest and greatest is not its top seller, the 6s is. If you define "high end" as a device that has "high end" parts and features that are reflected in the build of materials, then just about every manufacturer beats it. If your definition is based on the profit margin per device, then you are absolutely right, as well as a sucker.

That's never an argument. Its even stupid to bring it up. They both have a different business strategy. Samsung makes stuff. Making stuff costs more money. Profits will NEVER be an argument. I dont care how many times you doucebags bring it up. All that money and still have a device 3 years behind. No moving parts or holes and yet a lower IP rating. No advanced charging capabilities, no advanced features. The iPhone taking 3 hours to charge vs a phone with a 60% larger battery taking 88 mins. But you worried about profits. You priorities are in the wrong place All that money still 3 years behind everyone else. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT FOOL

Has Samsung ever been down? Not really. This happens every year. At Xmas Apple will take the lead again, And then Samsung comes back. As per every year, after the XMAS rush, Apple sales take a huge drop. Example - ATT for Apple's Q1 will sell roughly 15M+ iPhones. The very next quarter they drop sales roughly 40%. Then the next quarter they drop again and then of course its drops again as people wait for the new model. It takes Apple a full quarter to even catch up to their own demand. SO they sell everything they make on pre-order and then take a full quarter to fill their pre-order. Then they have a big sales rush for Jan/Feb because of those who couldn't pre-order. Samsung makes 50 phones and manages to have a reasonable supply of ALL of them. Both company's are BEAST, but Samsung has a huge advantage. They are beast and they make their own shyte and that take a real giant.

Finally got my hands on the S8+. Awesome device, I really like its huge screen, small bezels and excellent ergonomics and build quality (It just felt so good in the hand with these nice edges). The new Touchwiz also looks very good, but it had some lag, even in the home screen. But it was a demo unit and most demo units have this anyways so I'm not too worried about this.

Way to go Sammy.

Samsung will come with everything in the coming months. After the S8 will come the note 8. Apple sales should continue to fall, as we 3 previous years.
