Im glad this is finally happening! Its time for a change in the mobile industry because just adding bigger screens, slimmer bezels, slightly better cameras, and larger batteries with a steeper price tag is not innovation.

History has taught us that no company leads the pack forever. Apple is very likely to lose it's dominance within the next 3-10 years and their replacement will in time fall behind as well. New ideas are how all tech grows and evolves.

You do realize that Samsung’s mobile division has been steadily declining in revenue for 6+ years now, right? This device is not gonna change that. If you honestly believe Samsung is going to take the mantle now, because of this ‘thing’, check yourself into a medical facility.

At the same time, their flagships have been the highest rated smartphones in the world,, so they already taken that mantle.

Kiko, my comment was regarding the thoughts of the article itself. I did not state that Samsung would replace Apple but that some company is very likely to do so within the next 10 years. At one point Apple replaced Blackberry, Palm and Windows mobile. Facebook took down Myspace and Google overtook Yahoo, Aol and others. Sony was once King and look at them now. There are many other examples of you want to do the research. All these companies will inevitably be replaced by others. If you can't grasp that concept, you can have your very own wing in a medical facility.

If Samsung manufacture their parts. Then how come my note 8 did take 3 weeks for a screen replacement?

You know, people said that about the Galaxy Note. Why is it tou have to feel one companybhas to always be successful. Capitalism exist these companies to compete and outdo each other to give us better stuff. When you board a plane, do you car if it's made by Boeing or Airbus? Why do you. Uy the car you own? I just argued with someone who claimed we Samsung fans are so sheepish because we were supporting a device we hadnt even seen hustbfeom rumors. But yet they do it too. Except we actually get something different, while they get more if the same. Less for more money. Samsung is know for making high quality products. Apple also uses them. Apple only wants to move away from Samsung, because Samsung also competes against Apple and this is something Apple has had an issue with since forever. We know Samsung makes greatbrhings and we expect since they are making such a big deal about it, its gonna be a great evolutionary device as the Note was. And this just burns you guys skin, like sunlight on a vampire. Why can't you enjoy it, no matter who it comes from? Apple made everyone get off their butts a d make phones better. Everyone gets a turn to create.

I wish it wasn't so dark so we could see more. I know they were keeping some design elements secret, but this was a tease.

Hope they are not hiding fingerprint-magnet screens.

I think this was rumored to be able to fold about 200,000 times under durability tests which sounds like a lot but I don’t think it would last longer than a couple years. I look forward to the second iteration once they iron out any kinks. Never buy a product on its first iteration, always bound to have problems.

Finally, someone comes out with a reasonable point. Although, if nobody buys the first iteration, then future iterations may not come out. So, I say buy it if you got cash to spare.

Off topic: how do you clear old "subs" on this site, using mobile version?

This is what the mobile space needed in order to be revitalized and Samsung delivered. We will now see a slew of other oems running to also produce their own versions of this. However, if done and marketed right, Samsung will be at least two to three years ahead.

I wonder how thick the the phone would be when it's folded.

Considering the size of the guys thumb. At least 1.8-2cm

This is a fake case overtop of the actual design though so it's difficult to say.

At least Samsung makes the folding and unfolding swifter and zero screen creasing movement than those China-made bend like sheet metal kinda foldable phones.
