Samsung details how it came around the Galaxy S III "inspired by nature" design in a new video

Apparently the designers wanted using the Samsung Galaxy S III to feel like a "walk in the forest", with all the natural sounds around you, like the chirping message notification, and so on. They wanted to represent a wild boar attack when you try to change the launcher, but this got canned in the last minute...

Are these designers actually of the opinion that the SGS3 has a good design? I mean, honestly? Why on earth make a video about "designed for humans" or whatever when the design is bland, uninteresting and completely irrelevant? That they even have a slogan for the design of this phone is just amazing. Hardware, sure, but design? Who would ever buy this phone for the design, if it didn't have monster hardware?

Sales of this phone means the general consumer disagrees with you. Iphones sell good too, so you can probably just take it with a grain of salt, but the customer is the ultimate decided regardless.

That it sells well does not mean it has good design. It is being marketed extremely heavily and all the reps are pushing it, and it is a great phone functionally. Plus of course it's an android phone that actually runs smoothly for a change, with its monster hardware. But do you think anyone would buy this phone over another if it weren't for these reasons? Very doubtful. Let's face it, the design of this phone is not good, it's not different, it's not groundbreaking, its not even interesting, and it's definitely not a selling point. The design of this phone is only irrelevant, in that it does not make people NOT want to buy an otherwise great phone.

Its all marketing. Ive seen 10x as many SGS3 commercials as any other android device ever. People come into the store looking to buy the phone; just like with the iPhone. Which is ultimately a great thing for android as a whole. That being said; the SGS3 has the feel and build quality of a plastic soap dish. The hardware however is excellent; but is absolutely equaled by the One X and Evo 4g LTE. And the build quality and display of both devices are far superior. But marketing matters.
