Samsung and Apple smoke the peace pipe, drop all ITC cross-appeals from 2013

A report out of Korea on Wednesday, cites an unnamed industry official who says that Apple and Samsung are ready to bury the hatchet. Tired of spending money on legal disputes, both tech giants are looking for ways to end their years of legal wrangling. In addition, Apple apparently wants to continue to have access to Samsung as a component supplier...

Its funny that Apple needs to use Samsung's tech. So now they want to look like they are being nice.

Samsung won. Unmeasurable amount of free advertisement from 2 years worth of "Samsung this and that" from every news channel and media source, easily $10B or more Sammy didn't have to spend and branding, and they doubled their sales just the same and going to earn with Apple product to be sold. In return, they may have to hand out like $10 per Android device for silly patents, and why not if $50 is coming back from screens, and memory and storage and chipset. However, this is neither Samsung's or Apple's doing, but Google's, who's testimony played the key part in lawsuit round two. Besides Samsung successfully dismissing 95% of Apple's newer patent claims, Google on Sammy's side and iOS user dependency on Google services was something Apple didn't want to f with, especially as their bullying didn't work out in the first place. Keep your enemies closer as they say, this is much better for all sides and their businesses.

It's as easy an analogy as the Irresistible Force (Apple) and the Immovable Object (Samsung). Apple attempted to exert influence in order to change the course of Samsung. It resulted, for all intents and purposes, in a stalemate through legal actions and court proceedings. As it was Apple's goal to change Samsung's course, but it was Samsung's goal to continue on as it was, a stalemate makes Samsung the de facto winner.

I own s4, s5, and mega 6.3. Some would say im a samsung fan, but even i fail to see how they are "the undisputed king". Samsung make good products, but they arent to everyones needs or tastes. Just because we like samsung doesnt mean everyone else in the world should be like us. Others would rightfully disagree with you.

Er... last I checked, they ARE the undisputed king of android. And Samsung does make the best phones. But the ugliest too. At least people know a good phone is more than skin deep.

Samsung shouldn't back down to the bully. That isn't a very good message to be sending to the youth of tomorrow. It sends the message of just give the bully your lunch money. Samsung shouldn't back down until they get that one billion back in lawsuits.

This is great...now we just need more profitable competitors...Sony and LG need to push their product more in the states and the Chinese manufactures are slowly moving in...check Huawei and their 299 6 incher... Ascend Mate 2 4G...pretty decent phone...
