Samsung allegedly in talks with Sony to get the Xperia Z5 camera sensor for the Galaxy S7

Sony's new IMX300 sensor has apparently impressed Samsung so much, that the company wants to have it in the Galaxy S7, concurrently with the ISOCELL piece. It's not clear if Samsung will use the two sensors interchangeably, but given its track record, it might, so you could get a Galaxy S7 either with a Samsung, or a Sony sensor, depending on the region and model...

It's definitely sarcasm. Marorun is lying to his teeth. He knows he's exaggerating to prove a point which doesn't exist. Sony cameras use poor lenses to not have a camera hump. Poor optics sacrifice image quality and they have purple fringing and other issues which are pretty notable.

If Samsung includes just the addition of storage expansion which can definitely be done and keep the high end look then I'm all in. Any image quality better than what they are already produce would be more than perfect for me.

Why? Have you worked out how to add sd cards with ufs, you just said it's easy done, I think you find it not?

Well the Sony Xperia Z3 and the others in Sony's line and even the HTC One M8/M9 offered expandable storage in a high end unibody form factor so....

Exynos dont support the new speed for files system and SD at the same time.. SD820 do support it ( SD810 too btw ) so yeah its possible.

Sony's camera software processing is nowhere near as good as it's IMX300 sensor.

Z5 compact's camera is best at taking raw files like lg g4 but most people will take pictures on jpeg so most of the xperia buyers won't maximize it to it's full potential.

There are many Pro who actually need those RAW shots. So your "most people will take pictures on JPEG" doesn't make RAW mean.

Why would a pro use a smartphone for photography?

I like the Android manufacturers push the limits of technology, the S7 can have the best camera on the market as Samsung is doing a great job and Sony knows how to design their cameras because until now they have no competition.

I'd suggest Sony ask for the Exynos 8890 SoC in return for the Z6. Would be a win-win situation for both companies. With Qualcomm dropping the ball with this year's SoC's its a good time for Samsung to make its Exynos mainstream.

OMG this is like the best idea ever but... Sony's sensor department is now separated from the mother company and has little connection to the mobile department, and the same thing happened to Samsung's, i doubt that there will be a "4-way" deal between them

Is the off the shelf non custom Sony sensor not good enough for the lesser markets Samsung? This is why no one should have a beef with Samsung. Unlike Apple, who would just buy the cheapest off the shelf component and charge you a ransom for it; Samsung actually negotiates for the superior custom part for at very little benefit for them, they can make the same scratch with an off the shelf Sony sensor.

Don't sell battery technology. It's Xperia exclusive
