Samsung Galaxy Sport leaks in crystal clear render revealing stylish design
The moment we’ve all been waiting for is fast approaching, with both the Galaxy S10 family of new high-end smartphones and Samsung’s long-awaited first foldable device scheduled for detailed announcements in San Francisco on February 20.
But the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer is not abandoning the smartwatch game either, reportedly looking to unveil a wearable device called the Galaxy Sport just six months or so behind the Galaxy Watch.
Naturally, that means the two products will cater to somewhat different target audiences, which feels pretty obvious based not only on their names, but also the external designs. A newly leaked Samsung Galaxy Sport render by the folks over at 91mobiles seems to “confirm” and once again highlight a few major aesthetical distinctions, starting with a smoother, non-toothed bezel.
It remains unclear if that means the Galaxy Sport will ditch the popular and very convenient rotation-based navigation capabilities of both the Galaxy Watch and Gear Sport, as well as several other Samsung wearables before them.
It’s also interesting to note the two side-mounted buttons come with a new shape and arguably more refined style than their Galaxy Watch and especially Gear Sport counterparts, as Samsung wants to bring the best of both worlds together.
In a nutshell, the Galaxy Sport appears to borrow some of the Galaxy Watch’s elegance while presumably aiming for a lower, Gear Sport-like price point. The color of the rubber band pictured today and the way it matches the stylish brushed metal dial is an ingenious way of adding an extra splash of charm to an otherwise cheap and unimpressive material.
While we don’t know much about the specs and features of Samsung’s next-gen smartwatch, its Pulse codename suggests advanced heart rate monitoring functionality will be on deck, most likely alongside GPS, NFC, and top-notch water resistance. There could even be an LTE-enabled variant in the pipeline, which sounds highly unusual for a fitness-centric wearable.
