Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ cameras and hardware get detailed ahead of unveiling
Even though we're more than a month away from the official unveiling of Samsung's flagships, information about the Galaxy S9 and S9+ continue to emerge and raise the hype. The latest report related to the phone comes from South Korea and contains in-depth details about the Galaxy S9 and S9+'s cameras.

As some of you probably know by now, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will have a very different camera configuration. For example, Samsung Galaxy S9 will feature a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS (optical image stabilization), while the Galaxy S9+ is said to come with a dual-camera setup (12MP+12MP).

The interesting thing about both cameras is that they include two aperture values that can be adjusted to allow for more or less light to go through the lens. The report claims the Galaxy S9/S9+ will feature cameras with the highest level of lens brightness: F1.5. One of the smartphones that are very close to that value, LG V30 has a camera with F1.6 aperture.

The report also confirms the Galaxy S9 will feature a variable aperture of F1.5/F2.4 and it will work similar to a DSLR camera. Users will be able to adjust the aperture before taking a picture. The technology isn't new, as Samsung included it inside one of its last year high-end smartphones, the W2018, which is exclusively available in China.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S9+ has two cameras on the back with different apertures: F1.5 and F2.4. The smartphone can take a picture using both cameras at the same time, so they're not only used for wide-angle images and zoom shooting. The camera setup users complex distance and depth recognition algorithms that aren't yet available in conventional smartphone cameras, which results in high-quality images.

As far as the secondary camera goes, both flagships come with 8-megapixel selfie snapper with autofocus and iris recognition function. It's also worth mentioning that both smartphones' cameras are expected to feature support for slow motion shooting.

In addition to the details about cameras, the report reveals the size of the phones' display, so if the information is accurate, the Galaxy S9 should boast a 5.77-inch display, whereas the Galaxy S9+ should come with a larger 6.22-inch screen. The amount of RAM that's been mentioned in previous leaks is confirmed: 4GB RAM (Samsung Galaxy S9) and 6GB RAM (Samsung Galaxy S9+). Finally, the Galaxy S9 will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S9+ will pack a larger 3,500 mAh battery inside.
