Samsung Galaxy S7 with Snapdragon 820 SoC allegedly tops 5423 on Geekbench's multi-core test

Elsewhere, the Exynos 8890 is expected to be be powering Sammy's new flagship smartphone. Packing Galaxy S units headed for the states with a Snapdragon chip has been the manufacturer's recent MO, except for a fluke this year. Because of the issue that the Snapdragon 810 chipset has with overheating, all Samsung Galaxy S6 units ended up with the Exynos 7420 SoC inside...

Wider and slower? Not really, it's still 3-wide instruction set core. Clock is still fairly high at 2,2GHz (more than SD810).

2.2 GHz isn't all that high when you consider the amount of power it's pushing. You see, at 10% higher clock, it's more than twice as fast as a cortex A57. About the 3-wide instruction set-core, do you have any information to back that up?

I think, both Exynos as well as SD820 will be a strong performer for 2016. I would like to know the advancements in graphics department from both the manufacturers (Samsung & Qualcomm) .. Any idea ?? Any thoughts ?? What performance (graphics) level are we expecting here ??

Adreno 530 will bring Qualcomm's usual 40% increase over it's last gen GPU.

Not so easy. While Adreno 420 was not terribly better than Adreno 330, Adreno 430 outperformed the 420 by 40% as expected. We will see if Qcom keeps promise now.

Adreno 420 is about 20-30% faster than Adreno 330.

It isn't noticeable in games.

I dont think there is any benchmark of Adreno 530 but Mali-T880MP12 has some of that leaked 3 months ago:http://wccftech.com/samsung-mongoose-core-details/ Manhattan off-screen is 59.4fps, T-Rex off-screen is 108.9fps. In comparison S6 has 22.2fps in Manhattan off-screen and 53.3fps in T-Rex off-screen.

I know there aren't any benchmarks for Adreno 530. I simply stated what's QC's routine with each new GPU for the high-end segment: 40% increase.

While Mali T760 is about 15% better than Adreno 430, Adreno 530 is 1,4x Adreno 430 Mali T880MP12 is 1,5 to 2,25x Mali T760MP8 Everything is pretty clear even now.

T760 is not better in more demanding tasks.

In what tasks? Sold out benchmarks? You really think they're worth your attention? I've measured performance in games.

Expect 4k@60fps, FHD@240fps, HD@480fps!!! This leaves A9 in the dust.

Cool. Don't have a 4K TV like 99.9% of the world population. Literally impossible to notice any difference in FPS over 60 with the naked eye. Only a film maker would need these modes, and he/she would NOT be using a smartphone to utilize these modes. Progress for nothing is not progress. Improve power consumption, less useless features.

You indeed sound ignorant about it. More frames per second means you can capture smoother videos of very fast moving objects like a F1 or other racing or fast-paced activities without blurs! Do you think the F1 races or movies like Fast and Furious you see on TV are shot in mere 60fps? Heck, people use thier smart phones for much more than what you seem to imply. All these are worthy improvements!

I can see a difference between 60hz and then overclocking my monitor to 75hz. Between 60hz and 144hz is a MASSIVE difference and 60hz looks all choppy to me.

There's even been some 200Hz monitors recently

Seriously, if you can't see a difference between 60hz and 120hz, you're blind. You sound like the people who bought Apple's bogus "retina" BS.

Its very easy to see, particularly in something as simple as moving the your computers cursor.

More fps allows for smoother video, especially slow motion at regular (24, 30 or 60 fps) framerates, 4k allows for much better quality 1080p video too thanks to oversampling (not in the least due to Bayer...) and stabilization after the fact with much better quality. Progress.

"Literally impossible to notice any difference in FPS over 60 with the naked eye." Do. You. Live. Under. A. Rock? There are countless articles that knock down that myth. Google is your friend. Console peasant. "Only a film maker would need these modes, and he/she would NOT be using a smartphone to utilize these modes." Yet iPhoneArena reports on iPhones being used as filming cameras. "Improve power consumption" Troll harder (if that was your intention). CPU has double the performance/watt of SD810's, GPU consumes 40% less power, DSP handles image processing tasks with less power and more speed than the typical CPU and GPU, HSA based design further allows power savings, Samsung's independent ISP is rumoured to be fabricated on a better process node, they can implement adaptive display drivers to adjust screen resolution to your liking to minimise GPU loading and they'll probably once again improve AMOLED display efficiency.

Just because you can't afford a full case mean doesn't mean the rest of us don't have many of them from since my bedroom TV my bed of the bottle on my bed is 45 inch and it is also 4k Smart TV all that hoopla and led i connect my phone to add all the time the stream if I'm not using the laptop underneath of it same with my dining room and living room when I stream to those or a problem chromecast and/or mirroring just because you don't have it doesn't mean everybody else doesn't have it

4k/60FPS is decode only. You can watch it with the SD820 but it can't record any :( a cool little achievement nonetheless.

Just improve the freakin audio already QC. So far every phone on SD sounds horribly compared to Exynos and Apple's A based smartphones.
