I wouldn't get fanatical either if the OS looks the same. Updates for IOS are barely noticeable cause nothing much changes, even IOS5 just adds small things which users of cydia already had

and how do you know that most iPhone users don't get excited about updates and barely know how to use their phone? Despite what you think most Android users are average. I showed one of my friends that you could hold down on the screen to change wallpaper and add a widget. And he still didn't care, lol. Most android users don't root or install custom roms. Many don't even install widgets. Most smartphone (regardless of smartphone) users know more about jail breaking than they do about custom roms and rooting.

Don't let some of the crazed users on this site (both iOS and Android) ruin your common sense. I hope you're not dumb enough to believe that a person's intelligence level is connected with which phone they have in their pocket.

ahhhhhhh... no.

yes, the average use on either side doesnt know how to use the phone. But as the pie charts have proven, the 40+ mom crowd (apple's biggest market amazingly) that uses it for little more than text and pix chooses iphone for its simplicity ....and the same charts showed that the more techy you are the more likely you are to use an android.

but no, one phone over the other doesnt denote intelligence or anything of the like. That sounds more like a crazed ifan arguement for some perceived superiority than anything

when the chart shows that nearly 40% of the users are older ladies, even if you take away a few % for analyst stupidity, thats still a large chunk.

The og Galaxy still doesn't have the official 2.3 update! There was no way I was expecting to get 4 on it, unless I wanted to wait 4 years for the update to roll out. Headlines will read: "SGS1 finally gets ICS update and the SGS6 launches next week!"

When they mentioned that the GS2 and GS2-LTE were getting upgraded, do they mean all variants? Or just the international GS2 models and AT&T's first GS2 model (discontinued)? Cause now you have the Skyrocket (LTE & HSPA+), Epic 4G Touch and the Hercules (HSPA+), all SGS2 models.

While it is disappointing it was also very much expected. Look how many issues those phones had just getting 2.2 and 2.3 you really expected it to be able to get 4.0? The Nexus S is getting it because it is a pure google experience phone and it's a Nexus. That's the whole point of getting a Nexus device. I will get 5.0 on my Galaxy Nexus while phones like the RAZR, Rezound, EVO 3D, SGS2, etc will get ICS at best. That's the benefit of having a Nexus is to get the latest android software. Trust me, other than the 4.6 inch 720p display on the Galaxy Nexus, not much else is going with it other than ICS. It won't take too long before there are more powerful ICS devices released, but because they arent Nexus devices they will have to wait or not even get the next android software update.

not to be a troll but do you see these issues on nexus phones?
the nexus one is shy of 2 year by 13 days and due to it's hardware will not receive ics.

Why is it that the 2011 Xperia phones of Sony Ericsson are going to have the ICS update, with RAM 512 MB, (the same with the Galaxy S) and only has 1GHz processors (the same with Samsung's) except for the Arc S?

I know that the Xperia phones' chipset (Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon) differ from Samsung's Hummingbird but what processor is more powerful than the other?
Other details:
Samsung Galaxy S
>CHIPSET: Hummingbird
>CPU: 1 GHz Cortex-A8
>GPU: PowerVR SGX540
Sony Ericsson 2011 Xperia lineup including the Live with Walkman
>CHIPSET: Qualcomm MSM8255 (Qualcomm MSM8255T for Arc S)
>CPU: 1 GHz Scorpion (1.4 GHz Scorpion for Arc S)
>GPU: Adreno 205

The phones are only samples for the sake of comparison. :D
