Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to feature Infinity Display, will launch with Android 7.1.1 installed?

Last week, we showed you a video that allegedly revealed the large front panel belonging to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Today, a new report out of the Netherlands suggests that the phablet's 6.3-inch display will have the same edge-to-edge Infinity Display as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+. That means that the larger screen on the Galaxy Note 8 will keep the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio...

"The galaxy note has always been an s series with a pen tbh. The only difference has always been the screen size" Sounding stupidly shortsighted, but wouldn't expect any less from you, iDiot...even the recent Note 7 debunks that shortsighted statement: Note 7 = S7 Edge + Bigger screen + Active digitizer pen to make productive use of big screen + IRIS Scanner as another fast and more secure method for authentication in various scenarios + Better Screen-to-Body Ratio ( ) + Refined Grace UI + 64 GB base model + Gorilla Glass 5 + USB 3.1 Type C Port + mDNIe processing chip for playback of HDR videos + Dual Ambient Light Sensors for better auto brightness management + Lower Screen Reflectivity & Higher Display Brightness and Contrast Ratio for better outdoor visibility + 7000 Series Aluminium frame + 4x4 MIMO equipped for faster data rates, wider ranges, and better reliability ( ) - 100 mAh battery capacity

Writing with tour hand is slower than typing? You must be a fool! Its not an S with a pen. Its a Galaxy with a pen and then some. I consider rhe S a downgrade from rhe Nite dor more reasons that have nothing to so with an SPen. I never head tou say the Galaxy A is just a cheap.S...right?

If Apple had a phome like the Note, ypu would swear God made it himself and gave it to humans. Just stop already. Youre just a Smasung hating shill You not even buying the phone. But at least have an objective opinion worth debat8ng. do8mg is hating. The iPhone 8 is gonna be smaller, have aesser resolution, less features a d gon a coat more. Yet its just an iPhome 7 with a full display. Youre such a hypocrite. You dont have to like this phome or buy it, but no phone has bested it in e ery category ..not even the S. Yet ylu claim iyd the same phone.

Damn you suck at typing, given the amount of errors I'd say you should seek medical attention at once, clearly you are not well.

Omg you seriously need to spell check your comments before you post them. I don't know what your typing on, but its either lagging or your hitting the wrong keys. Also you have no room to call anyone a hypocrite, when your basically the biggest one on this site. You have NO clue what the iPhone 8 will be like, and are doing nothing more than hating on Apple like you always do. So before you call out anyone else out for hating or trolling you need to look at yourself first.

The note 7 had a lot more stuff than the s8. A bigger better, brighter display with HDR10. It had more storage at 64GB, secure folder, the new UK, updated always on display, iris scanner, samsung cloud, and other improvement like the finger print scanner speed and better palm rejection. Also it was $55 and I haven't even talked about the spen.

Well said. The Note 8 is going to feature the same processor, memory and everything else as the S8. No reason to buy if you ask me.

The S8 doesn't have a pen, isn't that a good enough reason for some people? Or do do you Think everyone is like you who doesn't use the pen?

After experiencing just how good the S8 Plus is, I've zero doubt. Samsung came back, and immediately made the best phone out. The new best comes in the fall. Note 8.

I guess. I'm not happy with the S7 Edge. People keep saying the Note series is just an S series with a pen, but it's not. The Note 7 ran sooooo much better than this S7 Edge.

Did you ever try an S8, or just waiting for the king? My S7 Edge ran smooth most of the time, but it did lag here and there, and didn't have enough to be a Note 7 replacement. The S8 optimization is just crazy smooth.

Tried an S8 at the store a couple of times. Just isn't floating my boat. I really hate the fingerprint scanner positioning. I can reach it on the regular S8, but I don't want to go smaller screen. Can't reach it the way I hold the phone on the S8+, I have to adjust my grip. I'll wait to see what the Note 8 has to offer. I think Samsung is going to try and really bring it after the Note 7. I'm hoping for all Exynos.

I didnt like the S7 edge either. Loved my S6 edge though and edge+. My wife didnt like the S7 edge either. The Note 7 was sooooooo much better. She likes her S8. She says its cool and swelty. I like the S8+ for similar reasons, but i miss my pen. I miss drawing, i miss signing docs from my device and more. On a 6.3" display, i eont even need a tablet. Splitscreen features are going to be awesome at 4K. The Next Big Thing is gonna make the world take "note".

Probably true. It's shaping up to be amazing. My Note 5 is limping home and ready to retire. While I am very impressed with this device. The following changes would be perfect for (ME): #1a Replaceable battery. #1b or ... 20% fatter phone with @ 5,000mah sealed #2 Grippable polycarbonate rear and display instead of fragile slippery glass. Scuffable, dingable, and scratchable aluminum is welcome to leave for a more modern material too. #3 This exact form factor reduced around a 5.7" display. #4 More rounded corners aka S7, S8, or Note 3. This reduces actual device size in one hand vs pointy corners. #5 Front facing or improved external audio over past Samsung devices But, if they did that, I may "never" upgrade again. So, I understand. Just thought I would leave this here since Samsung is hanging on my every opinion. ;-)

Too bad none of your request will be granted. Except well, you go buy the note 4 or the lg v10. Thats the closest u can get to your wish list.

1a and 1b, are things OEM'S are moving away from. 2 is cool, but glass and aluminum look to be the future. 5 is cool too.

Hmm, I want the exact opposite of your point #4, as I actually much prefer the slightly sharper corners of the Note 7 to the S7/S7 Edge. Could not agree more on #5 tho!

Im hoping for at least a 3400 mAh battery for the Note 8.

pretty obvious it would have a infinity screen...the infinity symbol is a sideway 8. same reason iPhone 8 is getting one. ever wonder why in back to the future they travel at 88 miles per hour. 88 represents time. 88 is like 4 circles a circle is 360 degrees 360 times 4= many mins in a day? hmmmmm. anyways I'm either getting this or iPhone 8 cant decide

Note 5 was one of the best phones I have owned, and I was really looking forward to the Note 7. Hoping that the screen's edge radius will be closer to the Note 7, and not the S8 & S8+. Also, I wouldn't mind Samsung losing the Bixby button (and Bixby all together - total waste of space). I don't post much on PA, but sometimes I just can't resist, wtf is this? "That means that the larger screen on the Galaxy Note 8 will keep the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio found on Sammy's latest flagship models. That is considered a better ratio for watching videos than the 16:9 aspect ratio..." How is 18.5:9 better for watching videos than the 16:9? Most all videos today are in the 16:9 ratio...

45. TechieXP1969

18:9 is better than 16:9 for the same reasons, 16;9 is better than 4:3. Why BluRay is better than DVD.

50. Lumberjack

Except the fact smartphones are 16:9 because TVs are 16:9. It is easier to go 21:9 than 18:9. LG and Sammy are just wasting time.

Yes, and if you watch a movie (bluray or DVD) on a TV, you either get black bars on top and bottom with a small picture, or you get pan and scan, which zooms in and cuts off part of the picture. That's why 18.5:9 is better.

47. tedkord

Movies are usually closer to 2:1, which means more filling the screen and less black bars.

Anyone who wpuld pay $1000 for thst other phone, tbat will cost more, be smaller, and have less features, where this one will cost less; will be a complete idiot. For $950, you get 64GB, expandible to 256GB, where I am sure Samsung will have the promo for it, to get the SDCard free. Plus Gear VR, premium headphones in the box. 4K diaplay, gastbwired and woreless scanners, iris scanner, face recgonition, BT 5.0, Gigabit Modem, and all the great software feathres like one handed mode, splitacreem apps, floating windows and more. The iPhone coming out after the Note 8 is gonna loom like a tiny toy.
