Samsung brings 5G connectivity to the mid-tier with the Galaxy A90 5G
After several leaks related to Samsung's mid-range 5G-enabled smartphone, the South Korean company has finally made the Galaxy A90 5G official. Without waiting for IFA 2019, Samsung announced that its latest addition to the Galaxy A series is meant to bring 5G connectivity to the mid-tier.

However, it's hard to classify the Galaxy A90 5G as a mid-range smartphone considering the hardware Samsung has included in the device. Still, the Galaxy A90 5G will most likely be one of the first non-flagship smartphones that offer 5G connectivity, so we expect this one to be slightly cheaper.

Unfortunately, we can't give you that information at the moment since Samsung didn't announce the amount customers will have to pay for the Galaxy A90 5G. The good news is we'll learn more on the matter very soon as Samsung Galaxy A90 5G will be available for purchase from September 4 in South Korea.

According to Samsung, its newly revealed 5G-enabled phone will be launched in other markets soon afterward. The Galaxy A90 5G will only be available in two classic color options – black and white, but the phone will stand out thanks to the unique geometric pattern on the back glass.

Powerful chipset and lots of RAM

As far as the specs go, Samsung has teamed up with Qualcomm to include the Snapdragon 855 5G chipset inside the Galaxy A90 5G. Apart from providing users superior 5G connectivity, Qualcomm's mobile platform features enhanced AI capabilities.

Besides the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, the Galaxy A90 5G packs either 6GB or 8GB RAM, as well as 128GB expandable storage (up to 512GB). Keep in mind though that only the 6GB model will include microSD card slot, but if you think 128GB storage is enough, then you can go for the 8GB version.

Samsung Galaxy A90 5G boasts huge 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. It's an Infinity-U display that features a waterdrop-shaped notch, which accommodates an impressive 32-megapixel selfie camera. The phone comes with on-screen fingerprints and face recognition, while the massive 4,500 mAh battery benefits from 25W super-fast charging.

Triple camera, DeX and Microsoft Your Phone support

On the backside, there's a triple-camera setup, which includes a main 48-megapixel sensor, a depth 5-megapixel sensor, and an ultra-wide 8-megapixel sensor for the best possible results. Naturally, the main camera comes with enhanced features and AI capabilities such as Super Steady, Scene Optimizer and Flaw Detector. And for those who love taking selfies, the 32-megapixel boasts features like Live Focus Mode, which makes it easier than ever to capture great selfies or group videos.

It's also important to note that this is the first Galaxy A Series phone that includes Samsung DeX and Microsoft's Your Phone app for an enhanced mobile experience. With DeX, you can expand your phone's display to a PC or TV, while the Microsoft Your Phone app lets you mirror the phone display onto your desktop to check notifications, send and receive messages and browse your more recent images.

The Galaxy A90 5G is trying to appeal to a slightly different audience that can't afford to purchase a flagship for its 5G capabilities, but the phone will only succeed if priced competitively. The phone will be showcased later this week at IFA 2019, so stay tuned for more hands-on images and a few more details.
