The Galaxy A8s is shaping up to be a pretty important smartphone for Samsung. Not only will it further expand the updated Galaxy A series, but it will also be the first to include a display hole. According to a new piece of information, though, it could bring one change that probably won’t go down too well with consumers.

Although still unconfirmed, it’s now being reported that the Galaxy A8s may do away with the beloved 3.5mm headphone jack. If true, this would make the device the first Samsung smartphone to not include the feature. Moreover, it’s likely to pave the way for its removal on future devices. As things stand at the moment, next year’s Galaxy S10 series is largely expected to retain the popular report. However, if previous reports are accurate, the headphone jack could disappear from flagship devices with the arrival of the Galaxy Note 10.

While the Galaxy A8s may be skipping this particular feature, Samsung certainly isn’t cutting corners with the device. In fact, a recent leak revealed that it would be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710, which itself will likely be paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Elsewhere, a 3,500mAh battery will be keeping the 6.4-inch display on.

Samsung’s Galaxy A8s is expected to go official in late December before a release in the new year. Initially, availability will be limited to China. But considering the new design, expansion to international markets shortly after is extremely likely.
