Samsung Galaxy A6s production will be outsourced to Xiaomi's manufacturer

Samsung’s performance in China has been rather sluggish for quite some time now – it reportedly holds less than 1% of the market. Because of this, and increasing labor costs, the South Korean giant is shutting down one of its two factories, hence its need to outsource production. If reports are accurate, Samsung has reached an agreement with manufacturer Wintech. While this name may not ring any bells, it’s actually the company in charge of producing Xiaomi’s smartphones.

It’s unclear at this point how the move will positively affect Samsung financially, but the first smartphone set to be produced by Wintech is said to be the upcoming Galaxy A6s. For those unaware, this will make use of a 6-inch Infinity Display up front and a vertical camera setup on the rear. Internally, the Snapdragon 660 is included alongside 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Also, buyers can expect a 3,300mAh battery and Android 8.1 Oreo.

When it comes to a release, the smartphone is expected to go official next week on October 11 alongside the premium Galaxy A9s and unknown third device. Once sales commence, the device will be available in a variety of gradient colors.
