So... who won?

The results are a mixed bag (as you'd expect with so many great cameras), but some phones do stand out.

The iPhone X won scenes 1, 2 and 8, the Pixel 2 XL won the selfie (scene 6), as well as scene 5, the LG V30 won scene 3 (narrowly beating the iPhone) and scene 4, the Galaxy Note 8 won scene 9 and the OnePlus 5T won scene 7. Unfortunately, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro could not win in any of the scenes.

  • iPhone X - 3 wins
  • Pixel 2 XL - 2 wins
  • LG V30 - 2 wins
  • Note 8 - 1 win
  • OnePlus 5T - 1 win
  • Mate 10 Pro - 0 wins

There is another way of looking at the results, by the number of total votes. So here is the total amount of votes that each phone got:

All in all, the big takeaway is that you cannot quite quantify a camera in absolute figures, but you can look at trends. The iPhone X and the Pixel 2 XL stand out as the big winners in most cases, capturing pictures with color and dynamics that people like. The LG V30 and Note 8 ended up as close runner-ups, while the OnePlus 5T and Huawei's Mate 10 Pro are not quite on the same level as the other phones in this line-up.

Did you end up voting for your favorite phone? Are you surprised by the results? And what would you want to see us test next?

Just check on DxoMark mobile reviews!

I don't think DxoMark has much of a credibility these days. Take them ratings with a grain of salt.

2nd isn't bad. And it's phone arena fanboys voting, not professional reviewers. I've seen that faceoff go either direction in other comparisons/reviews. Still damn good cameras on both devices.

I didn't vote. All I know is my Pixel 2XL photos raped my S8 photos

Not surprising since this comparison didn't have any low light scenes or other difficult scenarios In good lighting its mainly down to personal preference Many people prefer the higher saturation and exposure of the iPhone X

How can we be sure that the pictures won by Iphone X are indeed taken from the phone's camera? Just asking.

There's a link to a Google Photos album in the article.

I like said in the original post, most people vote for the brightest photo. This makes the whole comparison stupid and worthless. Most people have no clue how to compare photos.

And we call that preference.

amazing results exactly in the decending order of price tags except huawei :p Pixel has an amazing camera backed up with AI and surprised to see iphone X come out on top! would've been interesting if sony and htc flagships were also put into this comparison

Any one with a brain will see the battle was rigged. Where is the actual low light? Day time shots look all the same!

Low light as well as moving people.

As called out in the original poll, without the 100% crops this has a huge gap in deciding which is better beyond thumbnails (which most will use to decide). Good to see the mix in performance though. All have strengths and weaknesses.

Not bad for the V30 considering it has the worst auto mode out of all the flagships. So imagine the results if manual mode was allowed. Just to switch things up just once I would like to see PhoneArena do a best quality camera comparison where manual mode for the phones that have them come into play.

IPhone X came out top, so like DxOMark said, iPhone X is best phone for stills.

Still quite surprised how much more votes X got in some scenes, because the differences nowdays with these cams are very small.

It is called a blind test for a reason.... half the voters are blind.

Imagine if using the V30 with manual or Google Pixel software AFAIK, Google Camera app can be downloaded to LG V30 without root through XDA I hope PhoneArena make a comparison between stock camera of LG V30 and the Pixel Camera downloaded to V30

You need to go to the specific LG V30 forums for that but I can truly say that Google's software makes all the difference. I've installed it on my V20 and have been pleasantly surprised by the results and especially at night. I have the best of both worlds now. An awesome HDR+ mode and an insane manual mode.

" the Pixel 2 XL won the selfie (scene 6), as well as scene 5" 1+1=3 wins. Math is hard.

Good to see LG is still kicking not to mention the manual mode capabilities.
