Report: Unlike most new smartphones, the Sony Xperia Z2 continues to be hit by shortages

According to market sources, the Sony Xperia Z2 is continuing to experience shortages. The problem for Sony is that this compares to the relatively uneventful releases of the Samsung Galaxy S5, the HTC One (M8) and the LG G Pro 2. The sources confirm earlier reports that some components for Sony's new flagship handset have been hard for the Japanese manufacturer to procure...

They should hire Foxxon as Apple and BlackBerry did.

Great phone, but really, really poor execution on releasing it. Sony is shooting itself in the foot with this launch.

Really disappointing that such an outstanding phone must be delayed. I think they must change their 6month cycle strategy for their flagship and focus on a perfect one each year.

Totally agree! I think Sony will surprise us all with the Z3 and they will learn from their flaws from this year. At least I hope. :]

By that time z4 launch will be close.. Seriously this 6 month cycle is too small. Phone getting outdated so soon... Don't really want that. Z2 will be my next phone though... WHEN it comes to India...

well that depends on how updaded you want to be. if you have z1, there is NO need for z2. in fact if u have Gs3 there is no need for Gs5. where as if u have Lumia 720 u probably should get 1020. some phones released 2 years ago still have specs to live to todays harshest use and still perform. now if you have $600 to spend every year just to get a fancier phone thats another thing.

I must agree on this one with you Papa...by the time it hit the stores 80% of the flagship buyers will already have a M8 or S5. If they get lucky it'll steal some Iphone6 sales. I simply love the notification led on the earpiece, as seen on the photo above. Such class and design, damm

I said on many occasions that sony is good in always fu*king something in their phones... this time it seems supply issues

while both the M8 and S5 (alongside with the new gear fit) have been sold out in all the t-mobile stores here in Dallas, Z2 that was announced 1st out of the 3 is still not available in the market. Now this is karma for you Sony boys, I saw lots of hiding lately.

Oh yes. All T-Mobile stores in Chicago sold out of the S5 hours after opening, especially the black color. Some even had lines outside which was crazy, especially the AT&T store on Michigan Ave. (Downtown Chicago) giving away a free Gear 2 to the first 50 customers. The Sony enthusiasts are quiet when it comes to global launch, or a launch itself, but praise the phone left to right. The bandwagon is hot this year.

S5 targets a wide range of "fitness freaks, M8 maybe targeting "selfies addicts". Sony well, idk...i'm worried about this delay...phone is so beautifull but so late... I dont consider myself a blind folded fan but Sony craftsmanship really convinced me since Xperia T.

lol @ (I saw lots of hiding lately)!!! do you expect a statement from sony fans regarding the delay??? sony fans are just people who like sony products and prefer it over others for one reason or the other, but they DO NOT work for sony and won't release statement regarding delay or any other ISSUES with their products. BTW I like sony products but Sony is the worst when it comes to releasing new products, they ALWAYS have the shortage in supply issue.

Z2 has great potential, but losing its momentum to S5 and M8 is going to cost Sony...I'm still hopeful Sony can quickly recover.

Man. This year is a rough year for anyone buying a new smartphone. Last spring had some great offerings with the GS4, and M7. But this year is just insane. I really want the GS5, M8 AND Z2, but I still want to pick up a Nexus 5 too! They're all great phones however I love my Note 3 already. I can't imagine parting with my Note 3 and I really don't want to spend $2000 on phones that I switch between. FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS ARE HARD! LOL

I just hope it's available by the time I get my income tax refund. Pending a review of the Oneplus One, of course...

Itll be Z3 time by then judging from Sony's track record. I've seen the Z2 as a usable demo unit though. Very pretty , solid feeling phone. A lot oversized though. Besides that, it scores high in all the core metrics apart from software "gimmicks".

nice try phone arena ... STILL THE BEST PHONE IN THE MARKET NOW but the probleme why sony is too late in launch .. i saw galaxy s5 and tablete z2 in markets ( russia moscou ) 4 days now , thats make sony lose for samy and the others

No. It isn't. Simply because it isn't *on the market*. Until the phone actually sees something resembling an actual flagship rollout, it really doesn't matter if it's the best phone or not. Here in Canada we are expecting to see the Z2 launch sometime in May, on a single carrier. That's quite the head start given to both the S5 and the M8, which are available across the major carriers here. Until Sony learns how to execute their release and actually deliver their product to market, it won't matter how nice a phone they make. They will remain a non-player.

Yup I agree. At this point this is a hardware version of vaporware. We know that is coming, It's been announced, yet no one really knows when they can get their hands on one, and everyone who wants it makes excuses about how great it will be. Here in the USA it's only supposed to launch on T-Mobile. I love T-Mobile, one of my two cell phones is through them. But they're not how you make a successful run at flagship sales in the USA....

66. papss unregistered

This is my one issue with Sony.. Release it to everyone and get it off tmob and release it on all carriers.. I would have jumped on it over the m8 had they released it here in the US.
