What the heck are you talking about? PA is quoting analysts and does not make personal statements. So far, I have not seen any official or credible sales figures about the S8. However, in Germany you can buy the S8 for 30% less than at release date right now. If Samsung was happy with the sales of S8, I wonder why they allow such rebates.

For the same reason you could get an iPhone 7 free with trade in of an iPhone 6 at release. Carriers try to attract new customers with deals since there's very little differentiation between plans and services.

The deal is at amazon without any carrier: in other words: for an unlocked S8. The deal that you have spoken about is unknown to me but I can only assume that the deal was with an expensive contract that would have lowered the price of the iPhone 7 to 200 usd max.

Amazon is a discounter. That's their appeal. The deal I'm speaking of was a free iPhone 7 with the trade in of an iPhone 6 or 6s. No cost. Zero. No contract.

Deal on Amazon doesn't mean that samsung has officially reduced the price due to low demand. Amazon and other online retailers provide huge discounts from time to time. iphone 7/7+ is being sold at 25% discount on Amazon India website and other online retailers. Even though apple has not officially reduced the price.

He knows that. He was trying to test us to see if we were as stupid as he is for bring it up? We all know Amazon, eBay sellers and the like, sell their stuff for lower than the manufacturer does and that the manufacturer does not and cannot tell a company what they can or cant sell a product they purchased for. His post was stupid to begin with, or he doesn't understand business. I say its both.

There is a difference between moving stock pre-release of the successor and wheeling and dealing to get people to upgrade. The full blown advertising isn't exactly subtle either.

Not in the eyes of the consumer. A free phone is a free phone.

We may not have actual figures but we do have the words from a Samsung CEO. I'll take those over any analyst's. Or anecdotal regional stories for that matter.

Because once Samsung sales a product to a carrier or retailer, they don't control how that seller resale the item. Guess what iPhone 7 has been free on all carriers since day one. I guess if Apple was happy with iPhone 7 sales, who did they let carriers give them away from free, when Apple doesn't from its own website. HMMMM!

Although I HATE the sealed battery and fragile glass, I do love my unlocked S8 that I paid $350. For $350, I'll have to accept the sealed battery and shattering glass.

Exactly - Here is how you show the bias. Just today Victor H, the leader of the Samsung Haters club, pasoted this article with the title saying and I quote "Here's how many Apple Watches that have been sold to date -https://www.phonearena.com/news/Here-is-how-many-Apple-Watches-have-been-sold-to-date_id96688 Accordint to ethe actual source, the source is an analyst who is guessing what he thinks is the total Apple has "shipped". But notice, nowhere in the article does Victor mention this proverbial grain of salt. But when another analyst states Samsung sales numbers, we are to take them with the typical preverbial grain of salt? But the isheeple will claim they have NEVER SEEN any bias on this site. Even when its right in front of them. Hwoever in Victor H source link there is this info "Hinting that the popularity of the latest flagship remains undiminished, Samsung’s mobile division chief Koh Dong-jin said in a media event in Taiwan in July that the cumulative sales of the S8 is 15 percent higher than that of the preceding Galaxy S7 within three months since the March 11 release last year." Where the CEO stated already that this was indeed a fact that the S8 was doung as good or bettr than the S7 in the same time frame. So the analyst guess, was confirmed to be fact by Samsung's won CEO. But evceb with the CEo who works for Samsung in the phones product, kets just take this with a grain of salt, because Victor thinsg we dont read the source. If this isn't proof that Victor H hates Samsung like I stated alreayd, hwo much mor eproof do you need. At leats he is upfront with his bias, unlike others here. I dont care that he doesn't like Samsung, it is his right. But the clear and present bias of how thinsg are report when it comes to Appls vs Samsung is pure wrong from a journalistic standpoint. A fact is a fact whether we like the facts or not.l Apple having sold 31M Apple Watches shoudl be taken with a proverbial grain of salt because no one at Apple has substantiated with any facts hwo many have been sold. But Samsung CEO has confirm that the S8 is selling very well and above what the S7 was doing in the same quarter last year. DERP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I also have proof of how the writers which are also the moderators on this site, incite flame wars with their own articles. I see money in my future!!!!

He can't prove it, because starting with the iPhone 7, Apple no longer release weekend pre-order sales -http://www.idownloadblog.com/2016/09/08/apple-no-opening-weekend-iphone-7-sales/ The reason they stop is because, if they reorder sell 10M, those orders are not 100% filled in a weekend. Because if you order online, you are not charged for the device, until it actually ships. So if 10M were order over a 48 hour period, they all cannot offically count as a sell, because they are not sold until they are shipped. Those numbers to claim that well we had 10M preorder sales would be a lie. Because I myself and others have cancelled pre0order sales, due to the fact many times we are able to go to the store an buy the phone before it gets shipped. When I preordere the 6S for out office, I preorder the usual 15. I received 4 of them the same week, but the rest took up to 10 weeks to receive if I had waited. I was able to cancel a couple, because I was able to go to ATT and buy 2 phones a few days later. But it still took up to 10 weeks to get them all. I believe this is why Apple has stopped talking about pre-order sales. Because you cannot count a sale of an unsold item. http://www.idownloadblog.com/2016/09/08/apple-no-opening-weekend-iphone-7-sales/

And here's what Samsung did the past three years: put out phones that the overwhelming majority of tech reviewers rated the best that exist.

Want some more truth? It took Apple 10 years to sell 1.2B iPhone. According to Wikipedia, Samsung sold 1.1B smartphones for 3 years in 2014 and 2015 and 2016. Oh but wait, They sold over 1.4B in the years 2011, 2012 an 2013 conbined. So Samsung sold over 1B in just 6 years back to back and Apple took 10 years to do it once. Yet no Samsung article on PA for Samsung doing this twice in the just past 6 years alone?! No company has ever done this, not even Nokia. Even Microsoft has never done this with Windows.
