Report: Apple iPad mini 2 and 5th-generation Apple iPad to launch in March

0. phoneArena posted on 11 Jan 2013, 13:38

Topeka Capital Markets' Brian White says checks with his supply sources at CES suggest that the Apple iPad mini 2 and the 5th-generation Apple iPad will both launch in March only five months after the latest versions were announced; despite rumors that the Apple iPad mini would sport a Retina display for the sequel, there was no word on the resolution of the screen...

They will put retina in mini v3. Funny how fast they are pumping iPads out I mean the 4th ipad just came out and now another one? Seems like the 4 was a waste and can see some angry apple product buyers if this holds true. So much for the one product a year they used to try and bash android about.

Over on Macrumors, the buzz is that retina will be on the Mini2. It makes sense for the Mini2 to get a retina display and a mild bump in CPU/GPU (to maybe the A5X).

In all reality, the OG Mini should have had the retina quality display. By the time the Mini gets a retina display, a lot of other tablets will already have equal to or better displays. Apple should have came to bat swinging for the fence with the Mini, not just trying to reach first base with it.

It's always been Apple's approach to hold features back in order to give people something to look forward to upgrade to. If they are going to release devices this quickly, why hold back anymore?

But then apple couldn't sell people the same damn thing twice.

My colleague just got an iPad 2 brand new for dirt cheap. She gave it to me to put all the best apps & to update it to the most current iOS.

Playing with an iPad after using my rooted Asus Transformer Prime for more than a year & iOS is boring, dull, weak & nothing screams excitement at all. iOS 6.1 is so far back from Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean that it's LITERALLY scary.

Apple needs an OS overhaul not better devices. What is the point of a kicka$$ machine if your OS is BUSTED. It's like putting marble flooring in a mud hut.

Apple really, really needs to do something about iOS because even BlackBerry 10 OS from what I have seen in videos is more compelling.

Hey now, i will be DAMNED if I'm going to stand here and let you badmouth those of us with mud huts. My marble floor in my hut is AWESOME, only sucky thing is the tiles move around since the foundation is mud.

Use an iPad 4 and the preformance is very different. I looked at a Trasnformer Prime, but apps and entertainment online limitations swayed me. I own both a Gnote and iPhone 5. Yes Android has many great features, but stability and battery drain is only a few of the problems. My Gnote is rooted and rom'd. Battery life sucks majorly. App crashes are very common. I continue to play with many rom's in hoping the Note will get better.

Y not keep it stock man. My note 2 is stock, and I love it. Best battery life on any phone I've had. I also own an ip5, and have to charge it a couple times a day...sweet phone tho

True, but apple was going for a super portable and super thin tablet, they lacked the technology required to make the iPad and come up with the enormous revenue they demand from selling it. They could've done it, but chose not to. Another thing to note, a lot of apple buyers will go for the iPad mini 2 and if it does have retina, then so will I. I love this thinness and lightness of the iPad mini, but the screen's really the only thing holding me back.

Honestly I think the retina isn't anything special and if anything should have been on version 1. I bought a mini and if all they do is retina display and maybe little faster processor I really don't care since for what I do the mini is fine as it is. Maybe in 2 years when they really beef up specs ill upgrade my mini.

But the design are the same. How are apple consumers going to tell the difference?

OH MY F***ING GOD! Why the hell would anyone be so retarded at to even think of buying an iPad if its not only worthless the minute you turn it on but now its worthless in Apple's eyes 6 month later because they came out with another stupid f***ing tablet that does nothing different! holy jumping jesus people are retarded!

Apple is doing their absolute best to obsolete the previous generations of phones and iPads. I wonder how customers who purchased a Mini and the 4th gen iPad feel about being obsoleted before a year has passed?

Look how mad those who bought an ipad 3 were when the 4 came out and now this shortly after? Apple is losing their luster and this isn't the way to gain it back.

Let em keep on keeping on. They're losing customers and market share daily, so i for one approve of apples strategy to keep re-releasing the same damn thing every few months and passing it off as new.

I for one love constant refreshes, but im probably an exception to the norm. I know not everyone wants this but i wish galaxy s series was more like this. I like getting new gadgets. I love opening up a new box and turning on a new device for the 1st time. I hate only doing this once a year. Id be happy with a 6mnth cycle as long as it didnt mean manufacturers were holding back tech just so they could do incremental upgrades to squeeze money from consumers.

Looks like they have increased those production schedules. I think the competition is the reason.

The sources tell White that the fifth iteration of Apple's 9.7 inch tablet will be faster and lighter than the current model. It will have the same design as the third-generation Apple iPad but will feature the faster A6X processor and the new lightning port. -----I dont understand.Isnt A6X already on iPad 4?

I think they should really beef up the specs of the mini, get it on the same level as the ipad 5 but in a smaller package. If you look at the pricepoint thats what you're paying for, thats what you should get.
