0. phoneArena posted on 26 Mar 2013, 23:43

The oft-rumored Amazon smartphone, said to be released in the second quarter of this year, is going to have a 4.7 inch screen according to the latest buzz from industry supply chain sources; the online retailer was allegedly working on a phone with a 4.3 inch screen, but scrapped that and went wit the larger panel after seeing the trend in the industry toward larger displays...

Interesting. I'm sure that they would make a good product as their other branded products are well built and well received. I just hope it doesn't JUST run their simpler version of android. I'm sure it would be straight android with a lot of bloat that had to do with amazon, branding, and shopping links. I'm all for it, but i'm not sure i'd get one.

I expect it to be just like the FIre, but in phone form with some phone embelishments. I'd be totally surprised if they made a non-forked version of Android, they stand to loose too much if they don't lock people into their ecosystem.

I would assume the same. They are only making this phone because like any company, they think they will make money. And Amazon makes money buy locking down it's device for their store only. I see it being a small Kindle that is also a phone. That's just me though. It's good to see they went to a 4.7 inch screen, that's a no brainer though to me.

Good Job Amazon.
Make those kowards at Google pay for being such LOSERS...
Android and the dirty policy of google that supports piracy , just because they don't have the balls to directly compete with Apple will back fire....
It's a shame that the kindle fire (one of largest selling Android devices) brings no money to Google, I hope soon Samsung will do what amazon did, create their own marketplace and tell google to go kick rocks.
Android is worth exactly the price that is being sold, 0.00$.

Sorry funnyguy I was just going to poke fun at ya but then I really looked at your comment....First to assume that amazon devices like the fire and new forth coming phone could survive without android as a base is naive at best. Amazon is a great, successful, and convenient online store for anything you would ever like to buy and that’s where it stops(for now)and amazon knows it and that is why there focus is on the market place but make no mistake under that glossy amazon store skin lies a poor android experience in my opinion.

However you may have spoken some truth with the Samsung comment I truly see Samsung trying to win itself off of the android system over time it's no wonder that there touch wiz is more present every year.
