I'd love to see a 7" tablet from Sony :/ I don't really think that Sony's taking tablet business seriously..

Sony is always late... When they realize that users prefer 7" tablets who knows what kind of devices we'll be using... :-)

Indeed, Sony these days have a tendency to always be one or two steps behind in some or other way, strange when you consider how powerful and influential they used to be.

Ask any person who has a 7 and 10 inch tablet whic one they use more. I know people that have iPads gathering dust while they carry their Nexus 7 here and there. Portability and ease of use are king for tablets.

Yuppp, price should have been an additional column next to screen size.

Not a fan of small tablets, but I can see why 7inch tablets are preferred, not everyone wants to be carrying around a large 10inch tablet as most of them are quite heavy, personally I don't mind them.

I had a Nex7 but gave it to my son when I got the Nex10. The 7 was a nice size and all but not that much bigger than my Note2 so I found myself not using it at all. Not to mention, I really loved the job Sammy did on the 10. It's the nicest tablet I've ever used and was immediately sold haha. Nex10 is the best tablet for the money and the one I use daily.

Interesting, I had the exact opposite experience. I also own a Galaxy Note 2 and Nexus 7 and find myself not using the Note 2 much anymore except as a mobile hotspot for my N7. I am on the go a lot and find the N7 easy to carry. I also consume a lot of media and have several eMagazine subscriptions. Both magazines and movies look better on my N7. Part of my problem making the switch to a 10 inch is partially portability but also resolution. 1280x800 for a 10 incher to me is a fail at this point. The only 10 incher I would consider is the Nexus 10. There are other high-res 10 inchers out there, but one other issue I have is I want at least one mobile device I own to be stock android (without modding). I like all the super cool features Samsung packs into TouchWiz, so I'll keep that for my phone...but I also like having a tablet with the latest version of Android.

Of course, the 7 inch over 10 inch consumer preference might not be all that complicated to figure out simply considering price.

The other factor is that Samsung and Amazon rule the Android Tablet market. Actually, Samsung rules both the phone and tablet market. So just taking the top 12 from that list, we have around 40% of the market share between Samsung and Amazon. Amazon is pretty much going straight for the 7 to 8.9 inch crowd, while Samsung has a plethora of choices (just like what they do with phones). But both have strong consumer brand recognition. ASUS makes great products, but some of my non-techie friends get a quizzical look on their face when I tell them my N7 was made by ASUS and that they have some nice higher end products like the Tranformer Pad Infinity. They seem more comfortable considering a tablet when I put the word "Samsung" in front of the product (Note 10.1, Tab 2 or even the Google Nexus 10 manufactured by Samsung).
