Red menace P20 Pro won't be released in the US, 40MP camera or not
Huawei's new P20 and P20 Pro flagships are the buzz of the week not only because they are high-end Android handsets with a notch, but on account of the impressive camera hardware they carry, especially the Pro model.

A huge 1/1.7" sensor with 40MP resolution? Check. Sidekicks with 20 MP monochrome and 8 MP telephoto lens? Check. A 4-in-1 hybrid focusing system with color temp sensor, laser and phase-detection autofocus? Check. The highest light sensitivity levels on a smartphone camera of up to 102,400 ISO? The first phone with 3x optical zoom thanks to the telephoto lens? Super Slow Motion with with 960 FPS super slow-motion at 720p like on the S9? Check, check and check! On first blush, the P20 Pro takes much better exposed pictures at night than both the S9 and iPhone X, but in daylight the results are a bit of a mixed bags, based on the limited amount of samples that has emerged from Huawei's event yesterday.

The thing is, however, that all this camera jazz will never see the light of the day on this side of the pond, at least not in any official capacity. Huawei has apparently made it clear that it doesn't intend to go through all the carrier and Best Buy humiliation it suffered with the Mate 10 series because of geopolitical considerations, so your best bet to get a hand on a P20 Pro or Porsche Design Mate RS with 512 GB storage and dual finger scanner, would be to import them.
